Daniel Grobe wins at RC Pro finals

The RC Pro finals were held at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto, Texas last weekend in a variety of electric and nitro off-road classes. In Open E-Buggy it was Andrew Clark with the TQ but after the double A-mains it was Daniel Grobe with the overall win with 2-1 finished while 1-3 finisher, Hagen Gray had to settle for 2nd. Angel Reyes scored 5-2 finished to round out the top 3. Jonathan Phelps and Nick Vanderpool completed the top 5 results.

Wick & Vaughn win at Veterans Day Race

Leisure Hours Raceway held the 2018 Veterans Day Race this past Sunday. Austin Wick would bring home the win in 2WD Modified Buggy from Brad Taylor 2nd and Alex Vaughn in 3rd. In 4WD 13.5T Buggy Rich S took the TQ, however it was Alex Vaughn who drove from 5th on the grid to 1st within a couple of laps battling along side Rich. Alex was able to hold him off for a win as Lee Conley came in 2nd and Rich S finished in 3rd.

Lovan Winter Series Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Lovan Winter Series was held in Alveringem, Belgium close to the French border last weekend. The race was held on a large 35x18m track and attracted racers from The Netherlands, France and Belgium. In the premier Touring Modified class it was John Ermen who showed some superb driving, however Hugo Raggaut was another driver who was fast from the get go. John dominated the opening qualifier on Saturday evening and he also took the three following rounds on Sunday morning, however he tried different tyres for the final qualifier that were not on point but was Hugo who scored a new lap and track record to take the overall TQ from John in 2nd and Sidney Blokker 3rd. In the finals John did everything he could to get past Hugo but the latter perfectly resisted the pressure to take the overall from John in 2nd and Sidney in 3rd.

MRC Longwy Winter Series Rd1 – Report

The MRC Longwy club hosted round 1 of the popular MRC Longwy Winter Series this past weekend. The race attracted both national and international drivers and in the Touring Modified class it was Thimo Weissbauer who took the TQ and win in front of his Awesomatix teammates Tim Wahl in 2nd and Lucas Urbain 3rd. Loic Jasmin and Remi Callens came in 4th and 5th respectively.

BRCA 1/12th scale Nationals Rd2 – Report

The second round of the 2018/19 BRCA 1/12th nationals took place in Birtley last weekend. The event saw a continuation of the increased entry from the first round with 70 drivers attending the event. The Birtley club laid a fast and flowing track which developed a high grip level throughout the weekend requiring a fast and consistent drive to achieve a good result. On Saturday racers competed in the 13.5 Blinky Stock championship with the field split into F1, F2 and F3 grades. In the F1 class current European Stock champion Ollie Payne put his car on pole ahead of defending British Champion David Spashett and a fast charging Adam Catchpole in 3rd. Ollie was to take a tone to tone win gaining a small advantage early on and maintaining this throughout the race. The front two cars had a relentless pace and lapped the whole field. Adam Catchpole unfortunately caught a track marker early on and had to retire his car allowing Mark Stiles to secure 3rd place from 5th on the grid.

Adam Drake makes the triple at 2018 JBRL Nitro Series

The 8th and final round of the JBRL Nitro Series was held at Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita, California this past weekend. In the Expert Buggy class it was Mugen’s Adam Drake with the TQ and win from Team Associated’s Jake Mayo and HB Racing pilot Anthony Westergaard. With the win Drake also cemented the overall title from Westergaard on the runner-up spot. Tekno RC’s Carlos Arredondo would come in 3rd overall.

2018 International Indoor Championships – Report

The prestigious International Indoor Championships were held in Las Vegas, Nevada over the weekend. As usual the event attracted both drivers from the US and also a lot of guests from abroad. The race was held in the usual Modified and Stock class mix and in the premier class of Touring Modified, it was the Alexander Hagberg and Ronald Volker show. Hagberg wanted to make it perfectly clear he was the fastest in this class with an exclamation point. Being the only one to throw down 24-lap runs, along with some extraordinary talented driving, he was able to capture the over all win in the Modified Touring class from the German duo of Ronald Völker and Jan Ratheisky. Paul Lemieux and Drew Ellis would complete the top 5 result.

Alessandro Balboni wins at Trofeo Capricorn

Last weekend the Trofeo Capricorn took place at the famous Jody Scheckter track in Fiorano, Italy. Alessandro Balboni showed a great performance, clocking the fastest lap in the 1/10th 200mm A-main and after 30 minutes of high-class racing he crossed the finish line in first position, some two laps in front of pole-setter Luca Manosperta with French driver David Simoes completing the podium in 3rd.
