Local ace Jernej Vuga continues to stamp his authority on this years 1/8th scale European B Championship, held this week in Slovenia, by TQ’ing the event for the very first time. The Mugen driver set a fastest time of 18 laps 5:03.283 in the 3rd round to finish over 2 seconds clear of his nearest rival, German Serpent racer Philip Eberle, who put in a blistering final qualifier to jump 5 places to line up on the front row alongside Vuga. Third was Mugen racer Giuseppe D’Angelo from Italy who leap frogged ahead of fellow countryman Michele Romagnoli following a strong final heat, meaning that Romagnoli dropped from 2nd to 4th after failing to improve on his time set in yesterday’s opening heat.

Vuga takes overnight pole at EC 'B'

This week sees the European Championship for B drivers take place at the scenic, but tricky, Tolmin circuit in Slovenia. Wet weather has plagued the event so far, with only limited running taking place before todays qualifying, which saw round 1 run in near 40 degree heat, before heat 2 was abandoned due to heavy rains. With 2 more qualifying rounds left to be run it is top local racer, and EFRA GP runner up, Jernej Vuga (above) that has clinched the overnight pole position. The Mugen racer ended the day only 1 second ahead of Serpent racer Michele Romangnoli with fellow Italian Nicola Ometto, racing for Mugen in 3rd. Top Dutch racer and winner of the first 2 rounds of the Dutch Nationals, John Ermen, lines up in 4th place for Serpent.

BRCA Touring Rubber and Truck class Rd3

BRCA Touring Rubber and Truck class Rd3

Report by Mark Christopher – The weekend of 13th and 14th May saw racers attend the fantastic Cotswold track, where they were greeted to a dry Saturday for open practice. Conditions cahnged however and Sunday saw the racers and crew welcomed by a cool damp morning and as everyone was setting up their pit areas the rain began to fall, leaving a damp slippery surface.

In the rubber class Mathew Thompson set TQ with his Serpent 720 showing his local knowledge of the track while in the trucks Craig Nutting got a clean run with his Team Magic car. By the end of round two of qualifying the rain was now showing no mercy and the track was covered in water, due to the design of the Cotswold track there were no deep puddles. Even so many drivers decided to wait for the finals and only a few ventured out to do a few laps to check their water proofing and tyre choice.
