Truhe & McBride win at Pro-Line Thunder Down Under

The Pro-Line Thunder Down Under race was held at the Meakin Park Raceway last weekend. Organised by the father of Kyosho’s Kyle McBride plus some other locals the event was created to bring more international drivers to Australia to come and race and start getting RC more widely known in the region. This year the race attracted TLR/Pro-Line drivers Adam Drake and Mike Truhe who traveled from the US race with the locals. Friday started off with three rounds of qualifying and it was Kyle McBride who TQ’d the first two rounds in the nitro buggy and truggy classes. In the third round Kyle came 2nd to Adam Drake who like always was able to make 10 minutes on fuel. In the fourth round of qualifying Kyle was on top of the field in both classes again, handing him the overall TQ in buggy and truggy for this event.

Boots & Sartel win at Noeux Les Mines GP

Boots & Sartel win at Noeux Les Mines GP

The Noeux Les Mines GP took place in France last weekend and it was Jerome Sartel who took the TQ honours in the 1/8th E-buggy class with Elliott Boots and Arthur Airaud in second and third respectively. In the finals Elliott made a clean sweep by winning the first and second leg handing him the class win early with one heat to go. The second place went to Jerome Sartel with Emeric Pierre completing the electric buggy podium. In the nitro buggy class Elliott Boots took the TQ honours from Jon Hazlewood and Ben Williams but come the 45 minute final Elliott suffered a flame out costing him many positions. In the end it was Jerome Sartel who took the win with Elliott fighting back to second position. Jean-Patrick Sartel finished third to complete the podium.

OCRC to host Reedy Int’ Offroad Race of Champions

OCRC to host Reedy International Offroad Race of Champions

Following the recent announcement that West Coast RC Raceway was to close, the Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions had to find a new home. After talking to suitable venues in the SoCal area the race organisers have chosen OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach as the venue for the 2014 event.

Reedy is pleased to announce that OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, CA will be the new home for its 20th running. OCRC will be the 11th facility to host the 27-year-old event. With the same organization staff, event sponsors, Scotty Ernst on the mic, and OCRC owner Robert Black all on board, racers are assured a world-class event.

Mini-Z Indonesia Open 2013 – Report

Mini-Z Indonesia Open 2013 – Report

The Mini-Z Indonesia Open 2013 was held in Mangga Dua Square, Jakarta in last weekend. With a competitive 70 entry from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the U.S. the meeting was run in a Stock 50T and a Modified class. Saturday saw two qualifying rounds with a single controlled practice before qualifying. The Stock class was TQ’ed by American Mini-Z Legend, Grant Matsushima who recorded 22 laps in 5:01. Local ace, Bowie Ginting was the closest to Matsushima and only 4 seconds behind. Malaysian Jason Wong secured the 3rd spot, 5 seconds behind Bowie. Alvin Lim (Singapore) and Jeff Cheong (Malaysia) followed closely to complete the top 5. The Modified class TQ went to Dave Tang from Singapore who outperformed Grant Matsushima with Bowie, Tri Hariyanto (Indonesia) and Philip Ng completing the top 5.

Nelson Lee & Leigh Dytor win Singapore Open 2013

This year’s Singapore Open for 1/8th and 1/10th on-road cars Singapore Open was more adrenaline and anxiety filled than usual due to frequent rain that made practice virtually non-existent and qualifying, sub-final and final duration uncertain. In the three days prior to the race, only on Friday afternoon was the track dry enough for a three hour practice. With 64 drivers signed up for the 1/8 class and 34 drivers signed up for the 1/10 class this led to a kamikaze practice session and many cars and engines were simply not ready for the racing that was to begin on Saturday morning.
After another overnight rain, Saturday morning was spent drying the track but thanks to the effort of the many club members the track was ready to race in now time both on Saturday and Sunday.

International Romanian Nitro Cup – Announcement

The first ever International Romanian Nitro Cup for 1/8th and 1/1oth on-road classes will take place on the weekend of the 22nd of September at the newly built Hobby Arena track in Frumusani near Bucharest. World-famous Scotty Ernst already confirmed his participation as did pilots from five different countries including Michael Salven who will presenting a nearly complete collection of Serpent’s racing cars going back to the 1970’s. Lamberto Collari withdraws from IFMAR Worlds

9-time IFMAR World Champion Lamberto Collari has issued a statement that due to the recently reported levels of radiation from the Fukushima plant in Japan that he will not attend next month’s 1/8th World Championships at Kei-Tune Raceway. The Italian, who was aiming for his 10th title in the class, is one of a number of drivers from Italy that we have heard are now not going to the event due this concern.

Robert Batlle wins 2013 Italian Job race

Robert Battle wins 2013 Italian Job race

For the second year in a row the Maugrafix’s Italian Job Outdoor race was held at the D&R track in Asti. The race had a strong attendance with World Champion Robert Batlle, European Champion David Ronnefalk, French Champion Jerome Aigoin and many other top drivers. After the four rounds of qualifying it was Novarossi team driver Robert Batlle who took the top qualifier position, followed by Berton and Ronnefalk. The 60 minute F1 final was dominated by RobertBatlle and his Mugen. He started from P1 on the grid and never looked back taking the win one lap ahead of Alex Zanchettin (TLR) and Kyosho’s Christoffer Svensson.
