Hofer & Schmid win at Swiss EP Off-road Nats Rd4

Round four of the Swiss Electric Off-road Nationals was hosted by the EFAC Hohenems club in changing weather conditions this past weekend. In the 2WD Buggy class it was Patrick Hofer who grabbed the TQ tie on points with Nico Schmid while Adrian Müller obtained the 3 spot after the qualifiers. In the 4WD category it was again Patrick who came out on top of Nico while Michel Buschor would line up in 3rd after the qualifiers. In the 4WD finals, pole position holder Patrick suffered a DNF in A1 but he stroke back in the following two finals to leave Nico behind in 2nd place overall as Michel Buschor rounded out the podium in 3rd. In the 2WD category Nico would hold the upper hand over Patrick who would come out fastest in A1 but with wins in A2 and A3 Nico secured himself the day’s win from Patrick Hofer 2nd and Martin Weidmann 3rd.

Viktor Wilck wins Swedish Electric Touring title

The Swedish On-road Championships were held this past weekend in Örebro in changing weather conditions. With rain expected for Friday night all drivers were keen to get as many laps under their belt as possible on practice day. The actual race started on Saturday morning and heavy rain meant only two qualifying rounds would be held with three more scheduled for Sunday. In the Electric Touring class Markus Hellquist set the pace on the wet track with Viktor Wilck coming in 2nd. On Sunday the sun came out again and dry weather meant good racing conditions for the drivers. In Electric Touring, Q3 was won by Viktor on new tyres while Q4 was a pretty close affair on old tyres between Hellqvist and Wilck with the latter still managing the TQ. Q5 on new tyres again went to Viktor who would line up on the pole position for the triple A-mains of which he would win the opening two to take the win and with it his 8th national title. Markus Hellquist came in 2nd from Alexander Andersson in 3rd.

Rheinard & Hofer win at German Nationals warm up

The warm-up race for the German Electric On-road Nationals was held this past weekend at the MBC Bamberg club in the south of the country. In the premier Touring Modified class it was Marc Rheinard who took three of the five qualifying rounds to grab the TQ from Christopher Krapp who managed to win two qualifiers to line up in 2nd on the grid. In Touring Sport it was Daniel Wohlgemuth with the TQ while Martin Hofer, with whom Daniel was tie on points, had to settle for 2nd after the tie-breaker. In Touring Hobby Sören Sparbier came out on top while in Formula, the largest class of the weekend, it was veteran racer Alexander Stocker with the overall TQ.

Neil Cragg takes BRCA 2WD Buggy title

Round four of the BRCA 1/10th Off-road National Championship was held at Boughton Raceway this past weekend. In the 2WD Buggy class, run on Saturday, Team Associated’s Neil Cragg would dominate the qualifying by TQing three of the four rounds, with Yokomo’s Lee Martin also taking a round TQ to line up in 2nd. In the triple A-mains Neil again was the man to beat and with three wins he came out victorious and by doing so he would also take the overall title, his 21st national championship in total. Lee Martin had to settle for 2nd at round 4 with Schumacher’s Tom Yardy rounding out the podium. Sunday’s 4WD class also saw Neil on top of the proceedings and with a win from Lee Martin and Tom Yardy he is now in a good position to fight for the 4WD title at the remaining rounds of the championship.

SARDA ORE Nationals Rd3 – Report

The third round of the 2017 South-African ORE national championship moved to the TRAP RC Venue in Pretoria. Free practise was held on Thursday and Friday with good winter weather in the Gauteng Province pleasing the drivers. The club did some good repair work on the track and a fast track with some technical sections proved demanding for most drivers. The strong 2017 Touring Modified class was represented by all the top and new drivers in South Africa and they pushed hard during the practice rounds and qualifying to achieve the best performance with their cars. During the practice rounds the local Liebenberg brothers showed great pace with their Capricorns while the Xray team mates Anderton Smith, Hein Kotze, Shaun Schutte, Antonio Caroli and Ashley Hurley also had great some great sessions.

Adam Drake TQs & wins at DTR Series Rd1

Last weekend Thunder Alley Raceway hosted the opening round of the DTR Series with the event attracting about 150 entries. Mugen’s Adam Drake was the top qualifier in Expert Nitro Buggy and took the win in the 20-minute final by over a lap and in front of Austin Pannone (Team Associated) 2nd and Shaun Kirkman (Tekno) 3rd.

Dutch 1/8th IC Track Nationals Rd4 – Report

Round 4 of the Dutch 1/8th Nitro On-road Nationals was held at the MACH Heemstede track for the first time in a couple of years. In the premier NK class Roy Bakker was the man to beat and he would take the TQ from Joey Sorber in 2nd, Martin Zevenhoven 3rd and Robbin Hertong 4th. In the main final and following a somewhat chaotic start, Roy took the lead from Joey, Martin and Robin. Later Martin would find a way past Joey and he would eventually take over the lead following a mishap of Roy. Unfortunately his lead wouldn’t last as he suffered an engine problem three laps later while Joey also encountered problems that lead to a DNF. Up front and after the 30-minutes final, Roy Bakker (Capricorn) would bring home the win some two laps in front of Robbin Hertong (ARC) while Benny Ciere (ARC) secured himself the final podium spot following a strong performance in the final.

Mikkelsen wins Norwegian Nitro Touring Series Rd3

The third round of the Norwegian Nitro Touring Series was hosted by the Valdres Modellbilklubb on one of the more spectacular tracks of the series with its length of 205 meters and almost 3.5 meters of elevation change. The blazing sun brought high temperatures, making it a real challenge for both drivers and cars. In the opening qualifier André Roine took the win closely followed by Anders Mikkelsen, some 0.8s behind. Mikkelsen then managed to take the TQ by 1,4 seconds in the second round but it was the final round that decided the TQ spot. At first Christian Hovden beat Mikkelsen’s time by 0,001 of a second but Mikkelsen fought back and got the TQ with a margin of 1.1 seconds while also setting the fastest lap time of the day.
