Mark Green wins Dutch 1/8th EFRA GP

Mark Green wins Dutch 1/8th GP

Mark Green has won the 2009 EFRA 1/8th scale Dutch GP held at the MACH track in Heemstede. Rain on Sunday caused chaos on-circuit as those racers who had actually decided to run risked it all on a very slippy and wet track. Following the semi finals it was John Ermen, Rick V., Christian Wurst, Oliver Mack, Arie Manten and Joey Sorber that would join the top 4 direct qualifiers Mark Green, Michael Salven, Jordy Blok and Jilles Groskamp in the main final. In the build up to the 45 minute final, the track appeared to be drying, and while still damp no longer had any standing water and this made the tire choice very difficult.

Josh Pain takes NT Nitro buggy Champs

Josh Pain takes NT Nitro buggy Champs

The Australian Northern Territory Nitro buggy Championships held this weekend at OCR Raceway. Following his win at the AINC09 last weekend, Team Associated driver Josh Pain picked up the TQ, setting up a huge battle with dual Australian Champion Wayne Walker, and no one was disappointed with what ensued. Despite some drama on the start line with Pain flaming out, the very talented driver had it all to do to chase down Walker in the 45 minute Main, and on lap 55 managed to take the lead when Walker himself had a flame out. The super quick driver never relinquished the lead for the next 38 laps finishing 8 seconds ahead after a grueling 45 minutes on the super fast circuit, both Pain and Walker the only drivers getting into the 26 seconds bracket. With such an exciting battle going on at the front, the rest of the field was left in their wake, Andrew Dun driving the Mugen MBX6, visiting from Queensland, put up a big fight to hold onto 3rd place.

This track is known for brutal conditions, and often blows out badly when a larger event comes to town. Xray Column – Crazy What?

Xray Column - Crazy What?

The 29th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj reflects on the company’s beginnings and how no one at the time believed there was a market for his line of tools and tire truers and how he proved them wrong.

I remember the statements like it was yesterday: “Are your crazy? Special aluminum tools for RC car racers?” Well, maybe I was crazy for deciding to go my own way and risk producing equipment and tools which were previously unknown/unseen and which the majority of racers had no idea what they were. However, I was a racer and designer at the same time so I knew those products would be successful because they make life easier for an RC car racer. Now I know I was right and had the right vision.

Marco Müller wins Swiss 1/8th Nats Rd1

Shepherd are reporting from the first race of the 2009 Swiss Nationals that took place in Schaffhausen last weekend. It was Marco Müller’s debut race as a Team Shepherd driver and he dominated the event with his brand new Velox 09. Breaking the existing track record by a sensational 0.2 sec he secured himself the pole position after qualifying. The final proved the great performance of the car, with Marco leading the race from the beginning to end winning from Jürg Nydegger in 2nd and Christophe Pethoud in 3rd. For young Shepherd talent Simon Kurzbuch it was a succesfull weekend, too. He placed 3rd after qualifying and was therefore qualified directly for the final. Unfortunately, he experienced technical difficulties at the beginning of the final and fell back to the last position managing to work back up to 8th position and claim the first place in the junior ranking.
