Xray Racing Series Greek Rd6 – Report

Round 6 of the Xray Racing Series Greek was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in hot weather conditions. Again a good amount of sign-ups, despite the perfect beach party weather, made for close racing and in the Modified Touring class it was Papachristos with the TQ and win in all finals. A surprise 2nd place went to Nikolakopoulos with Diamadis in 3rd, making it an all-Xray podium.

Tamiya TRF419XR – Preview image

Tamiyablog have released a first blurry rendering of the forthcoming Tamiya TRF419XR touring car. The follow-up model of the TRF419X was developed with increased corner speed and steering response in mind and it will feature a redesigned 2.25mm carbon fibre chassis and 2.0mm upper deck for optimised chassis flex while the front and rear anti-roll bars finally received ball-raced mounts for a more precise action. Also included will be a new centre pitch stiffener to fine-tune chassis flex, a LF battery balance weight and also two sets of shock towers for standard and the included TRF super short big bore dampers.

Gary Huang wins at Chinese National Champs

The Chinese National Championship was held in Yongkang City, China in very hot weather conditions. Air temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius and track temperatures of up to 65 degrees Celsius made for challenging racing conditions and in addition the drivers of the 1/8th Nitro On-road class had to cope with the relatively short and narrow track. In the main final it was Gary Huang with the best start from the 2 spot and he was heavily chased from the storming pack but ultimately Gary would prevail to take the win and with it the Chinese Youth Nationals title from Xu Zhanhao 2nd and Luo Wen Tao 3rd.

3DRC F6 front suspension flex arms

3DRC have introduced their new front suspension flex arms for the Team Associated F6 formula car. They are more flexible that the stock carbon fibre arms and improve the car’s handling over the stock parts. They also increase overall steering and look a bit more “scale-ish” than the standard sheet material arms. The 3-D-printed parts are 5mm thick for durability and they are available through 3DRC’s Shapeways store or select model shops.

Augustin Mejor crowned Belgian 1/8th On-road Champ

The final round of the Belgian IC Track Nationals saw Augustin Mejor walking away with the day’s win and also the overall championship in the 1/8th On-road class. Team mate Gunther van Staay would seal the runner-up spot in the championship while Yves Zoma completed the top 3 overall result.

Claus Ryeskov takes Danish 200mm Championship

The final round of the Danish IC Track National Championship was held in Naestved last weekend. Going into the final race pre-event favourite Claus Ryeskov had a points advantage over his competitors Rene Kjellerup and Chris Nielsen but still needed a top 3 finish to seal the championship. With a TQ Claus made a first step towards the championship and started from pole into the A-main, leaving Chris Nielsen and Rene Kjellerup behind in 2nd and 3rd. Chris Nielsen in his debut season looked like he would be able to challenge Claus but once the main got underway Ryeskov never looked back to take the win while Chris was battling with Rene Kjellerup and Lars Bo Larsen for the final podium spots. Ultimately it was Chris who maintained the 2 spot. In the overall ranking it was Claus with another national championship title from Chris Nielsen 2nd and Rene Kjellerup who rounded out the all-Xray podium.

SARDA On-road National Championship Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the 2017 South-African ORE national championship was hosted by the Krugersdorp Model Racers and held at the Key West Track. Controlled practice was held on Thursday and Friday with great spring weather and good track conditions ensuring a fast pace for all drivers. The 2002 IFMAR Worlds track had received a surface repair and all the contenders used the two months leading up to the event for good practice with club events, practice days and a pre-national event hosted at the track. The good preparation ensured that the event would be a demanding and a close affair.

Roche P12’17 floating servo plate & spring retainer

Coming from Roche and made for the P12-2017 pan car are a new 1.5mm forward carbon fibre floating servo plate as well as 2mm offset DVS-W shock spring retainer. Starting with the servo mount plate the part is machined from high-quality graphite material and it positions the steering servo 1.5mm forward which makes for a better steering link geometry especially when running Sanwa micro servos but also the micro-size offerings of other brands. Also new is the 2mm offset shock spring retainer for the P12-2017. It fits the DVS-W shock and it allows for improved spring preload adjustment.
