Exotek RB7 HD laydown motor plate

Exotek have introduced their new stealthy 2-colour anodised 7075 motor heatsink for the Kyosho RB7 laydown 3-gear transmission. The heavy duty 3.25mm thick mounting plate is stronger than the stock plate therefore eliminating motor flex to insure better gear mesh and the black motor plate helps reduce your motor temps while the built in gear cover is stronger and easier to work on than the stock plastic cover to insure that the body does not press the cover onto the spur gear in hard tumbles. The customised polished black base with red chamfered accents goes great with Kyosho kit parts and the plate, that weighs in at 13g only, is also usable for the entire RB6 buggy and truck series using the laydown gearbox.

E-Buggy win for Ty Tessmann at Lonestar Challenge

Thornhill RC Raceway in Hutto, Texas played host to the Lonestar Challenge last weekend. The event also doubled as the nationals warmup and the event, organised by The Dirt, attracted most of the country’s fast 1/8th off-road racers. Friday was practice day on a wet track, it was watered a couple of times throughout the day which gave good grip. The track started to get smooth and polished up by Friday night and in the first round of electric buggy Xray’s Ty Tessmann qualified 3rd which he backed up by two TQs which would give him the overall TQ. Sunday was mains day, and drivers were still trying to get grip on the polished surface. The organisers did double A-mains for E-Buggy with both mains counting to determine the overall winner. A1 was up first, Tessmann had a mistake fairly early on that he needed to be marshalled for which dropped him quite a ways back to 4th. Ty got back in the groove and was able to make his way by 3rd and 2nd place and then had a good battle with Agama’s Ryan Lutz before making a pass back to the lead which is where he would finish the race. A2 was smoother, Ty was able to just put in clean laps and lead tone to tone, which would give him the overall win in from Ryan Lutz 2nd and Serpent’s Brandon Rose 3rd.

Avid EB410/ET410 titanium shock standoffs V2

Coming from Avid and made for the Tekno EB410 and ET410 kits are the new FastTune titanium shock stand offs. They are replacements for the new #TKR6527B standoff that use the keyed shock bushings #TKR6780. They include Avid’s FastTune feature which allows to use a common 1.5mm Allen wrench to prevent the standoff from spinning while using a 5.5mm socket wrench on the other side. The other solutions out there require to either take the shock completely off the standoff to reach the 7.0mm nut or to use a 7.0mm open-ended socket wrench. In addition to being easier to wrench on they help to lose some weight from the highest point on the car by switching from steel to titanium. The set includes four shock standoffs machined from billet 6Al-4V titanium.
