Nicolas Bregante wins at Metropolitan Championship Rd3

The third round of the Metropolitan Championship was held at the Hernan Matticoli Circuit in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Off-road specialist Nicolas Bregante had one of his few on-road outings and was very fast from the get-go despite missing practice due to work commitments. Counting round TQs in Q2 and Q3 secured him the overall TQ and starting from pole position allowed him to take the wins in the opening two A-mains for the overall. Ezequiel Forgaral ended the day on the runner-up spot and in front of Luciano Capel in 3rd.

Nico Schmid doubles at Swiss Champs Rd2

The second round of the Swiss Electric Off-road Championship was held at the Islikon indoor track. The race would mark the final race event at the popular location that will close its door permanently after the Easter weekend. Racing-wise it was Nico Schmid who took wins in the 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy classes, leaving behind his brother Florian in 2nd place in both categories. Kay Fehner snatched the final podium spot in 2WD while Philip Jeisy rounded out the top 3 in 4WD, making it all-Xray top 3 podiums in both categories.

Urban Touring Series Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the 2019 Urban Touring Series took place this past Sunday at Urban’s rooftop PlaySpace raceway. Despite forecasts of rain, an enthusiastic grid of close to 30 racers turned up to pit themselves against one another in the Touring Car 17.5T Blinky and Formula classes. In the TC Class, it was Nicholas Lee who would take overall TQ by topping Q1 and Q2. Dominic Quek would have to settle for a P2 start in the A-Main. Sean Lee had a great qualifying to snatch P3 from Esmail Apandi who made some uncharacteristic mistakes during his runs. Wee EC and Hasron Robana would take the last two direct spots in the A-main, and would be eventually joined by Sebastian Lee and Chhua Joo Kiah bumping up.

Hobiland Race of Champions – Report

The Hobiland Race of Champions was held at the SDC offroad track in Serpong, Indonesia. The event attracted 40 entries for the 1/10th 2WD Modified and 2WD Stock as well as the 4WD Buggy and 4WD SC Truck classes. In 2WD Buggy, Bowie Ginting secured the TQ, ahead of Ariatenna and Dimaz Arianto in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Over in the 4WD class, Rizky Pradana secured the TQ after winning the first and second qualifying round and in front of Arief Budiman and Yusuf Zulkarnain.

SMJ digital pocket scale & racing weights

Coming from SMJ are their new digital pocket scale and a set of 5g racing weights. Starting with the palm-sized scale, it is capable of weighing items of up to 200g of weight in 0.01g increments. The compact device measures 65x122x21mm, it weighs in at 91g and features a 30-seconds automatic switch-off for power-saving reasons and can measure in g, oz, ct and gn units. The scale is ideal to check the weight of gear differential when filling them with diff fluid, ensuring consistent diff action from re-fill to re-fill.

Menard & Ficco win at Mile High Indoor Champs

Always held around “Tax Day” in the USA, the Mile High Indoor Championship is a great event held in the Denver area. As one of the last big events of the season, the MHIC is known to introduce or promote something a little different. In 21.5 GT12, a new class that is picking up in popularity after making its National debut at the 2019 Snowbirds, saw CRC’s Charlie Menard taking the title. Denver’s Mario Ficco would take a 2nd place from his TQ starting position. Colorado pilot Jim McGee would round out the all-CRC podium.

T-Works MP10 brass rear hub inserts

T-Works have introduced a set of brass rear hub A and B inserts for the Kyosho Inferno MP10 buggy. Machined from heavy brass material the inserts are a replacement for the standard composite parts and they help to add unsprung weight to the suspension, something that can help to gain traction in low-bite track conditions and on bumpy parts of the track. The hubs come laser-etched for easy identification and the set includes two A and two B inserts.

KO Propo EX-RR ST2 radio system

KO Propo have introduced their new EX-RR ST2 competition radio system. The radio system features an updated pistol grip and as well as the ST-2 steering wheel unit that both utilise redesigned potentiometers that offer greatly improved durability as well as offering a finer resolution, resulting in optimised throttle and steering feeling. The new potis are said to last 100 times longer than the previous parts, ensuring precise car control even after countless hours of usage. In addition the steering wheel shaft now is dual ball raced for even greater precision and smoother operation, ensuring the soft steering wheel return spring can operate at greater efficiency. Also part of the updated package is the new grip unit with the throttle lever’s updated geometry allowing for a better and more direct throttle feeling while still retaining its compact site. The EX-RR ST-2 radio comes with the recently introduced Ver.2.12 firmware for the Master Unit that features a rollout calculator for pan cars, a new push control (auto) throttle function that overrides the strong magnetic fields of high-torque motors, and the firmware also includes a new down timer. The EX-RR ST-2 is available including one or two KR-418FH or one or two KR-415FHD receivers from mid-May.
