Oliver Fischer wins Danish 1/8th off-road opener

The opening round of the Danish 1/8th off-road nationals was held in a large horse riding indoor arena and with the participation of some swift guests from abroad. The laid out track offered medium grip and a tight, flat layout. In the qualifiers Oliver Fischer (HB) and Magnus Frandsen (TLR) battled it out for the TQ spot and ultimately with two round TQs and a second place finish Oliver would take the overall TQ. After the semi finals Peter Harder (Xray) grabbed the pole position for the finals and he would also lead the field in the opening stages of the A-main but two mistakes and also problems with traffic let him drop down the order. Peter was able to recover but it wasn’t enough to challenge leader Oliver Fischer and he also had to defend himself against a storming Pelle Culmsee in the closing stages. Up front Oliver Fischer would bring home the win from Henrik Steiner while Peter Harder had to settle for third.

Kyle Francis TQs & wins at WA State Titles

Kyle Francis TQs & wins at WA State Titles

The Western Australian State Titles were held over three days with Friday being controlled practice, Saturday qualifying and Sunday finals. A two hour rain delay after two rounds of qualifying saw the track conditions go from great to slippery slop and in the Nitro Truck class, after four out of five qualifiers on the Saturday, the TQ would be decided in the final qualifier. Up front the lead had already swapped several times during the race and at the beginning of the final lap Kyle Francis had the slimmest of margins, 0.001 of a second. A fast mistake free lap saw him take the win along with the TQ spot. Sunday’s 45 minute A-main then saw Kyle dominate, leading every lap of the final and in a first ran the whole race without getting marshalled once. So much was the dominance that by the 30 minute mark Kyle had lapped the entire field, including second. He went on to win by two laps with this being his second truggy win in consecutive years. Josh Pain came in second while Dale Smulders rounded out the top 3 result.
