1st Annual South Florida Winter Champs – Report

Coral Springs RC Track hosted the first annual South Florida Winter Championship and they did not disappoint. Friday morning racers were greeted with a fresh new layout and amazing weather. Without a cloud in the forecast racers began to arrive early Friday morning for early practice and to get there cars dialed in for the weekend. Saturdays race program would bring 3 qualifiers, rocket round style and some fierce competition with over 190 entries. By mid morning the track was well grooved and racers qualifying times continued to improve. Sunday the dust was settled and the mains were set.

MCD Racing camber & ride height gauges

MCD Racing have new setup tool for large scale cars available in the form of a camber and ride height gauge. The camber gauge allows measuring the wheel’s camber angles in a -10 to +10 degree range while the ride height tool measures in a 20mm to 70mm range. An extended arm allows to virtually measure on all parts of the chassis for improved usability and precision. The tools are made from high-impact plastic and work with 1/5 and 1/6 scale cars, buggies and trucks.

Alexander Hagberg continues with Orcan

Alexander Hagberg continues with Orcan

Xray factory driver Alexander Hagberg has re-signed his contract with Orcan, the German company announces. Alexander will continue to use Orcan’s nitro engines, such as the newly designed .12 RS3-MH, fuel, mufflers and other accessories for this 2014 nitro on-road campaign. The 24 year old Swede is focused on the 200 I.C. World Championship in Bangkok this year and he will also compete at the European Championships and selected races of the Euro Nitro Series ENS as well as local races. This is what Alexander has to say about the deal:

For 2014, being a worlds year for the 200mm IC class, it will be more important than ever to have a good and reliable engine set-up. I will continue with my Orcan deal throughout this season, using engines, mufflers, fuel and accessories from the German brand at all my nitro races. New Picco Torque X-Type .21 & .12 engines

Italian company Picco have two new on-road nitro engines available in the form of the Torque .21 X-Type Cer World and the Torque .12 X-Type S EdoMod. Starting with the 1/8th scale engine, the power plant features a long stroke design for further increased low and mid-range acceleration with the components having received the attention of Edoardo Picco to extract as much performance as possible from the 3.5cc engine. Other features include a 14mm Turbo crankshaft with silicone insert, an aligned knife edged conrod and a hand-finished chrom-plated brass liner. A modified backplate improves fuel flow and the piston made from high percentage silicone alloy billet further increases the performance. Last but not least the engine comes with a Swiss-quality ceramic main bearing and 8mm and 9mm venturi inserts.

Adrian Berntsen wins TC at Norwegian nats

The 2014 Norwegian Championships was hosted by the Spydeberg Motorklubb in the small village of Spydeberg. The race saw round-by-round qualifying with the best two of five to count. Xray’s Adrian Berntsen was able to secure the TQ by winning three of the five rounds. Petter Berntsen TQ’d two rounds handing him P2 for the finals in front of Rune Svestol. In the A-mains Adrian cruised to the victory quite easily, nearly lapping Petter. Rune Svestol completed the all-Xray podium in the Touring Car class.

Ashton takes GT12 national title

Ashton takes GT12 national title

The 6th and final round of the 2013/14 BRCA National Series was held at what some consider the home of 1/12th scale racing, the Shirley Park Leisure Centre, Clay Cross, Chesterfield. In the GT12 championships both the Saturday and Sunday title was still up for grabs. The Saturday title could be won by either defending champion Chris Ashton or his Schumacher team mate Jamie McDonagh. Round 1 saw the Mardave of Jonathan Dixey set the fastest time with the Schumacher of Jamie McDonagh setting the next quickest time but with his car failing scrutineering, this would move Chris Ashton up to 2nd place and Alex Thurston into 3rd. Round 2 saw Chris Ashton move to the top of the time sheets with Jonathan Dixey dropping to 2nd place and Matt Lax into 3rd.

2014 Danish Indoor Junior Club titles – Report

2014 Danish Indoor Junior Club Championship

The Brondby Racing Club held the last of 5 races to crown the 2014 Indoor Junior Club champions. The championship is run in a Touring Car Modified, Super Stock and Stock class and saw Stefan Finnich taking the overall title from Lars Holm and Mesut Ocak. Michael Johnson and Nicolai Lindegaar completed the top 5 of the Modified class. In Super Stock, Patrick Danielsen brought home the overall win in front of Claus Ryeskov and Casper Morgan. Christian Lehm and Willy Lehmann ended the series in 4th and 5th respectively. In the Stock class Jack Helge Sorensen was crowned the 2014 champion, Jannick Jacobsen and Jeppe Svendsen finished 2nd and 3rd. John Clausen and Michael Kilbinger Hansen completed the top 5.
