VBC Racing Firebolt DM 2WD buggy kit

VBC Racing Firebolt DM 2WD buggy kit

VBC Racing have released first renderings of their forthcoming Firebolt DM 2WD off-road buggy. The company’s first buggy kit features a slim aluminium chassis with composite sidepods, “gullwing” front and rear wishbones, aluminium big-bore shock absorbers and – by the looks of things – carbon fibre front and rear shock towers. Given the images, many of the suspension settings are adjustable using threaded inserts and a brace on front of the mid motor allowed the use of a fan unit for improved cooling in hot ambient temperatures. Although the images only show the mid motor variant it is understood that the Firebolt will feature a convertible gearbox design to run the buggy in rear motor configuration also. The kit will hit the stores this Summer and we bring you more information as soon as we get them.

MIP TLR 22 2.0 Stock & Modified Pucks drive system

MIP TLR 22 2.0 Stock & Modified Pucks drive system

MIP introduce two new Pucks drive systems for the TLR 22 2.0 buggy. First up is the lightweight 17.5 drive system specially designed for Stock racing as it makes use of lightweight C-CVD aluminium driveshafts and Lite Drive aluminium outdrives, scrubbing around 50 percent of overall rotation mass. The Shiny drive system for Modified racing relies on the more robust “Shiny” steel C-CVD shafts and steel outdrives. Both kits make use of MIP’s Pucks system that offers a greatly increased contact patch between the driveshaft’s drive pin and the differential outdrives for a smoother operating drivetrain while offering easier maintenance at the same time. Both the Stock and Modified kit include a pair of driveshafts with wheel axles, differential outdrives, diff rings and balls, the Pucks assembly as well as several small parts.

MIP B5/B5M alloy top shaft & Bypass team tuned kit

MIP have new option parts for Team Associated’s B5 and B5M buggies available in the form of a lightweight top shaft and a Bypass team tuned shock piston kit. Starting with the top shaft, the 1-piece part is made from high quality 7075 aluminium and weights in at only 4.5g, making it around 67 percent lighter than the stock steel shaft, resulting in quick spool-up, acceleration and improved braking performance. The shaft features precision-cut gears and a hard-anodised surface and it is ideal for Stock and Modified racing alike.

Team Durango DNX8 prototype – First image

Team Durango DNX8 prototype – First image

In the wake of this weekend’s Neo Race in the UK Team Durango’s Jörn Neumann released this image of the prototype DNX8, the supposed follow-up model of the ageing DNX408. Details on the buggy are not available yet but looking at the image it appears that the DNX8 is of a more conventional design than its predecessor with a wider chassis and/or wider side pods. The front suspension makes use of a pivot ball construction with composite upper A-arms and also the engine position seems to have changed a bit. We bring you more information on the vehicle as soon as we get them.

Serpent SRX-2 gear differential

Serpent SRX-2 gear differential

Serpent introduce a gear differential for their Spyder SRX-2 line of vehicles including the mid and rear motor buggy as well as the upcoming short course truck. The diff features a compact composite material housing and it is of a multi-piece design with a separate diff gear and two side plates that are held in place using small screws and metal backplates for improved fitment and leak-free mounting. The internal gears are made from sintered metal while the crosspins are made from lightweight aluminium. In combination with the lightweight spring steel outdrives the differential weights in at only 28.9g without oil. The diff is usable instead of the standard ball diff and comes in handy especially on high grip surfaces.
