DJ Apolaro wins 200mm at Copa Mitad Del Mundo

The Copa Mitad Del Mundo nitro on-road race for 200mm Sedans and 1/8th GT cars was run in the Quito area, Ecuador. The track is located roughly 3000 metres above sea level and the race saw entries from many South American countries including Brazil, Peru, Chile, USA and Ecuador of course. Friday’s practice was washed away by the rain largely but come Saturday the weather improved and the competitors were able to start working on their engines and chassis setups. The race format had direct qualifying for the top 4 so everyone was eager to qualify as good as possible. Capricorn’s DJ Apolaro was invited to compete in the Sedan class and soon learned that engine setup in the thin air was crucial. Nevertheless he ended up in third place after the qualifiers.

Hudy Arena ready for Volker/Rheinard title showdown

The Yokomo Euro Touring Series makes its first visit to Slovakia this week (July 18-21) with the Hudy Racing Arena playing host to the season finale where two of electric touring car’s greatest rivals Ronald Volker and Marc Rheinard are set for a showdown that will decide which driver becomes the champion of the sixth season of the World famous championship. A new venue on the calendar, the Hudy Racing Arena is the perfect stage for what is set to be the most thrilling climax to an ETS season and in typical Hudy/Xray fashion the track has undergone meticulous preparations as it gets ready to welcome over the coming days the 240 plus drivers who will contest the 33rd race of the ETS.

Yeah Racing cooling fan & steel servo screws

Yeah Racing announce the release of the Tornado high speed cooling fan in chrome-pink colour and special servo steel screws with aluminium bushings. Starting with the fan, the unit is 2S LiPo compatible, it is of a high-flow design and incorporates dual ball bearings for vibration-free operation. Sporting dimensions of 30x30x10mm it is ideal to cool speed controllers and motors and the fan comes pre-wired with a red JST connector. Also new are 3x10mm steel servo screws with pink colour aluminium bushings. The screws offer high strength ideal for all 1/10th and 1/8th applications while the aluminium bushings replace the conventional rubber grommets for rock solid installations.

Xray T4 closed layshaft bulkhead

Xray introduce this new design middle layshaft holder for the T4 touring car. Different from the original ‘open’ part the ‘closed’ designed of the bulkhead captures the layshaft bearings to allow the removal of the upper topdeck screws in order to further adjust chassis flex and therefore the characteristic of the car. The bulkhead is useable on the left and right hand side and is made from 7075-T6 aluminium and comes orange anodised to match with the remainder of the chassis.

Tamiya FF-03 Evo FWD chassis – teaser

Coming soon from Tamiya, and currently only available as slightly blurry preview image, is the FF-03 Evo 1/10th electric front wheel drive chassis. The latest generation FWD offers a newly-designed 2.5mm carbon chassis with 2mm upper deck and 3mm rear damper stay. The front of the chassis sees the addition of laydown shock absorbers with the rear ones are mounted in a conventional way. Included in the kit will be also fully alloy TF shocks, a front gear differential, and dual joint universal drive shafts. The kit will kit Japanese stores at the end of August.

Alessio Mazzeo wins 2013 Italian 200mm nats

The final round of the Italian 200mm nationals took place at the tight and twisty track in Palermo, Sicily. Serpent driver Alessio Mazzeo took TQ after Saturday’s qualifying and this meant the battle for the overall win between him and Dario Balestri was wide open. Sunday’s final though saw Alessio leading the race from start to finish and even an additional stop to change all four tyres did not stop him on his way to the overall title win.

Mustafa Alp wins TC Modified and Stock at TTS Rd4

The fourth round of the TTS was held at the newly build electric on-road track of İMOP, located in the centre of a park making for a good racing atmosphere and lots of audience. The track itself is very technical with a 20 metre long sweeper just before the main straight. Open practice started on Friday followed by five controlled practice rounds on Saturday. Both the touring Modified and Stock class was TQ’d by Serpent’s Mustafa Alp followed by Erol and Serpent driver Ahmet Tekelioglu in the Modified class and Murat Çağış as well as Akın Gürsoy in Stock.

Brooks & Clinch win BRCA on-road Clubman Rd4

Round 4 of the BRCA Clubman Series electric on-road championship was help at the southern track of Adur. Showing record high temperatures, this would test the drivers to their limits looking at not over heating the control tyres and driving consistency. With the track not being used for electric on-road for a while, Saturday practice was all about rubbering in the track and building the grip up which is vital to not graining the tyres too much. Race day on the Sunday came around with another scorching hot day of 32 degrees air temp. Much hotter than Saturday. Entries coming all over the UK of 90 drivers came down to the fast flowing but technical track to see how they compete against each other. The 17.5 Blinky class showing the bigger entries of 5 heats and the 13.5 Open class showing 4 heats.
