Stiles & Jefferies win at BRCA 1/12 Nationals Rd4

Round 4 of the BRCA 1/12 nationals took place at Crewe last weekend. A fast and open track layout greeted the 100+ drivers entered for the event, which ran over two days and catered for both stock & modified LMP12 classes as well as GT12. Saturday’s LMP12 10.5 stock class saw one of the closest ever qualifying results at a BRCA national event. Olly Jefferies took TQ on his debut with the Xray XII chassis equipped with Reedy and LRP electrics. Reigning champion David Spashett lined up 2nd for Zen-Racing/LRP a mere 0.04s adrift of Olly’s benchmark. Mark Stiles was next up for Yokomo/Reedy/LRP ahead of fellow Yokomo runner Matt Varah. These 4 drivers were covered by less than half a second after 8 minutes of racing. In fact the entire top-10 was split by little more than a lap, so the A-final promised to be a close encounter.

Hebert wins 1/12th Modified at WCICS Rd5

Round 5 of the Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series took place in Victoria, British Columbia and it was one of the largest races in Canadian history, with almost 250 registrations. Jointly organized by local clubs IROCC and NRC, it was attended by some of the World’s best RC racers, like Kevin Hebert, Brian Bodine, Cody Knudtson, Dave Ehrlich and many more of the fastest racers from across Western Canada and the NW USA, the action was tight across all 8 classes.

Alessandro Balboni joins Team Shepherd

Shepherd announce that they recently signed RC-talent Alessandro Balboni for the 2014 season. The young Italian driver already had his first race at the US World Nitro Cup in Kissimmee at the end of 2013 showing a very competitive pace clocking some of the fastest laps of the race. Alessandro had the following to say:

Kyosho Plazma LM Mazda 787B

Available soon is Kyosho’s Mazda 787B based on the Plazma LM 1/12th scale pan car chassis. The kit is based on the Plazma Ra 1/12th competition chassis and features a long wheelbase FRP chassis, aluminium front suspension parts, alloy dampers and motor mount, as well as ball races, grippy foam tyres and it comes with a G20 brushed motor. Included are also one clear and one pre-painted Mazda 787B Le Mans body shell that resemble the monstrous Group C cars who attended at the 1991 24 Hours Le Mans race. Not included are the radio system, speed controller and battery.

Spec-R BD-7 black spool & universal battery mount

Spec-R have a new black colour front spool for Yokomo’s BD-7 touring car as well as a universal velcro battery mount available. Starting with the spool, the part is also available in a blue colour version and it features new ver.2 lightweight hardened steel outdrives for a lowered weight and added rigidity. It sports laser-etched markings and is a direct replacement for the stock spool. Also new is a universal velcro battery mount. Making use of widely adjustable carbon fibre brackets, aluminium mounts and a Spec-R branded hock and loop strap the quick release battery mount should fit a wide range of touring car chassis from different brands.

Sweep Jilles Groskamp signature edition car stand

Sweep introduce this Jilles Groskamp signature edition on-road car stand for 1/10 and 1/12th scale chassis. It is made from aluminium and comes in a bright blue colour that perfectly matches with the iconic “Tamiya blue” anodising of Tamiya TRF chassis. The stand sports a small footprint, a low 24mm profile and four rubber feet make for a secure stand even on slippery pit boards.

2014 IFMAR 200mm Worlds back in Bangkok

Huge RC in Bangkok, Thailand, the track owned and run by 2002 ISTC World Champion Surikarn Chaidajsuriya, has been confirmed as the new host for the 2014 IFMAR 1/10th 200mm World Championships. IFMAR were left looking for a new host for the event after deciding in Japan last November not to travel to Argentina for the race. The event is scheduled to be run from the 7th to the 15th of November and will mean back to back 200mm World Championships in the country following the 2012 Worlds being held at RC Addict in another part of Bangkok.

Diggity Designs Rebel 12 battery holder

New for the Top Racing Rebel 12 from Diggity Designs is this 2mm carbon fibre o-ring battery holder. This holder allows the racer to use an o-ring to hold the battery in place, replacing the need for tape. The holder floats on its own plain and does not tweak the chassis or side spring plate and two possible positions can be used. The set includes holder, hardware and o-ring.
