Associated RC8 option parts

Associated RC8 option parts

Associated have released a number of new parts for the RC8 line of vehicles. First up are these lightweight drive train parts which have been machined to reduce weight to help the performance of the car. The parts getting this treatment are the diff ring gear and the 44T spur gear. Also new are these precision-machined, tapered Delrin pistons for the 16mm Big Bore shocks. The team set out to improve over the 10 x 1.1 piston setup with damping characteristics that also excelled when the track got bumpy. Extensive testing showed that by drilling out 5 of the 10 holes larger, the damping provided the best of both worlds. The larger 1.2mm or 1.3mm allow for better low speed damping over bumps, while still keeping the great smooth track handling characteristics of the smaller 1.1 hole setups.

Team Durango DEX408 1/8th BL buggy

Team Durango DEX408 1/8th BL buggy

Having brought you some teaser and prototype shots of the new brushless Durango 1/8th scale, the company have today released the complete details on the DEX408. It has been specifically designed for this class with careful consideration of the electric-specific weight distribution requirements, the DEX408 makes no compromises. In order to achieve optimum weight distribution (with a near perfect 50/50 front-to-rear), they kept the chassis narrow, whilst allowing enough room for many of today’s most popular electrics and electronics. With a narrow chassis design, the DEX408 is nimble like its smaller DEX410 cousin, and it is easy to wrench-on in-between races. The ESC has been centrally positioned on its own composite platform, opposite which is a smaller platform for your Personal Transponder. Specially designed hook-and-loop straps secure the batteries to the chassis via the all-new composite side rails. Easy-access front and rear differentials are retained from the DEX408s nitro brother (DNX408), as are the race-proven wishbones and shock absorbers while the composite spur gear cover has a dedicated clip to hold motor and ESC wires tidily.

The second year for the NC Invitational was held at Zoo City Raceway in Asheboro, North Carolina. Jamie Tucker, Race Director/Organizer of the whole event, invited people from each manufacturer to represent their company. AE drivers Chris Pace, Max Fluer, and Jamie Grayek were present for Team Associated. The format for the Invitational class was five rounds of qualifying on Saturday and a 45-minute A Main Sunday. Pace and Fluer TQed the first three rounds of qualifying, securing TQ in three classes. Pace and Fluer were not done there – in the Invitational class, Pace ran the only 13-lap run of the event in the fourth round. With a slight bobble on the back section, Pace was quickly marshaled, but the marshal flamed his car, killing his chances for the fourth round. Max took second for round 4 in E-Buggy and TQ 4WD SCT.
