Rain stops play at Worlds Warm-up

Rain stops play at Worlds Warm-up

The Worlds warm-up race took place last weekend in Burgdorf, home to this year’s 1/10th ISTC and 1/12th IFMAR World Championships. Entries were low, but there were a lot of Japanese drivers in attendance including ETS Rd5 winner Atsushi Hara, Shin Adachi and a large team from Yokomo including Hayato Matsuzaki. Qualifying went the way of Ronald Volker, the runner up at the last Worlds in Thailand, winning 4 of the 6 rounds of qualifying to start ahead of team mate Hayato Matsuzaki, who won the other 2 rounds. Jilles Groskamp, Andy Moore, Alexander Hagberg, Takehiro Yamauchi, Shin Adachi, Atsushi Hara, Christopher Krapp and Freddy Sudhoff completed the A-finalists. Sunday’s finals day was a complete wash out, raining all day which meant that almost no drivers ventured onto the track. In the A-main Alexander Hagberg was the only person to go on track and so claimed the ‘victory’, based on the qualifying order Volker took 2nd and Matsuzaki was gifted 3rd. Full results can be found here.
