Coelho wins 1/10th Portuguese Nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the 1/10th 200mm Portuguese National Championship was held last weekend at the Monsanto track in Lisbon, host of this years World Championships. The weather was very changeable throught the event, with drivers having to cope with wet and damp conditions, and it was local Mugen racer Bruno Coelho that took the pole position ahead of Eduardo Dulac and Jaime Silva in 2nd and 3rd. In the main final, pole man Coelho dominated from start to finish taking the win, which puts him atop the championships standings, from the Xray paring of Ricardo Mendes in 2nd and Filipe Costa in 3rd.

Chaussard wins 1/10 French Nats Rd3

Last weekend saw the third round of the French 1/10th scale Nationals run at the 330m long AMCO track in Brest, in the very North West tip of France. Qualifying for the National class saw Kyosho racer Romain Jaureguy claim the pole position from Maxime Favrelle in 2nd and Frédéric Bourillon in 3rd, while in the Elite class it was round 2 winner Arnaud Chaussard on the top spot, putting his NT1 in front of team mates Thomas Eytard and Basile Concialdi. The National final saw a good start for the pole man Jaureguy but he dropped back early on and this left Maxime Favrelle in the lead for the majority of the race until his tyres went away near the very end and he was passed by eventual winner Frédéric Bourillon, leavin Favrelle in 2nd at the flag and Alexandre Basset in 3rd. In the Elite final, the race was dominated by Chaussard, who got into the lead and stayed there for the entire race while behind, the Serpent driver Michaël Derderian got passed Mickael Pontal who had a servo failure, and took the runner spot in the race 2 laps ahead of Mathieu Wullyamoz in 3rd.

A. Siegfried wins French 1/8 Nats Rd3

The third round of the French 1/8th scale on road Nationals was run last weekend at the Circuit Carole in Aulnay, just outside the city of Paris. In Saturday’s qualifying for the Elite class it was round 2 winner Richard Volta that was top qualifier, running on his favourite track he placed ahead of Adrien Siegfried in 2nd, Romain Picard in 3rd and Nicolas Guillet in 4th. The National class qualifying was headed up by Philippe Cima, just in front of Romain Baehrel in 2nd, while Arnaud Mathieu and Gaeten Fraioli rounded out the top 4. Following the Semi Finals the National class main final was run and despite a stop and go that dropped him down the order, Mugen racer Romain Baehrel could work his way to the front to take the win ahead of Serpent driver Mickaël Tequi in 2nd and another Mugen, belonging to Jérome Berthelot, in 3rd. In the Elite final it was pole man Volta that jumped into the lead early but before his first stop he ran out of fuel which cost him a lap, and which also allowed Siegfried make a break at the head of the pack. Volta did work his way into 2nd position but once more ran out of fuel and his luck continued to elude him as while in 2nd, in the final minutes of the race, he broke a wheel which put him out of the race. Kyosho racer Siegfried took the flag with a commanding 4 lap lead over Kyosho racer Jérôme Papaconstantinos in 2nd, while Serpent driver Jérémy Cardot took the final step on the podium in 3rd.

Lnenicka Ronny takes Rd1 Swiss Nats

The opening round of the Swiss electric touring car Nationals were held recently on the technical Schaffhausen track in Northern Switzerland. Qualifying in the Expert class saw Lnenicka Ronny, driving an Xray T2’008, take the pole postion from his team mate Mario Rigert in 2nd and Robitronic racer Sven Zünd 3rd. In the finals it was Ronny that took the win in the first leg ahead of Philipp Huber and Marc Bösiger, while in the 2nd leg it was won by Zünd just ahead of Ronny, with Bösiger 3rd once more. The final leg saw Lnenicka come good as he took the win, and this secured him the overall win with Sven Zünd taking 2nd overall and Philipp Huber rounding out the top 3. The Amateur class victory went to Philipp Tschupp in front of Adrien Duborgel, both with the Xray T2’008, while Christoph Schweizer took 3rd.

IIC 2008 – Entries now open

IIC 2008 - Entries now open

Scotty Ernst was in touch to tell us that the entry for this years International Indoor Championships (IIC) is now open. This years event will be back on the Las Vegas strip, held at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, which is located very close to where the old Stardust hotel was and allows access to all that Las Vegas has to offer. The new venue will take us back to the style that the inaugural IIC had with an intimate ballroom and great feeling. The classes for the 2008 IIC will be slightly different from the previous events and the organisers are very proud to announce that the IIC will be a 100% brushless event. Entrants may compete in a maximum of three classes, of those three classes a maximum of two touring classes will be permitted. To run three classes one must be 1/12 scale (World GT is being counted as a touring class).
