EFRA Newsletter regarding copied bodies

Central Lola body shell

EFRA were in contact regarding an incident that occured during the 1/8th scale European ‘B’ Championships which were held 2 weekends ago in Kirchberg Austria. The incident in question revolved around the discovery of a number of copies of the very popular Central Lola body shell that were being used by some competitors at the race who had unwittingly bought them at the trackside shop. This shells were pretty close to an exact copy and even carried the same EFRA homologation number as the original Cental shell. EFRA has ruled that these copies are illegal and are currently looking into taking further action agains the manufacturer.

Nielsen & Graversen win Danish Nats Rd2

We received a brief report from the 2nd round of 1/10th scale electric touring Danish Nationals that was held last weekend at the GRCC’s large track in Greve. This national round saw 40 drivers in attendance, with 21 competitors competing in 19 turns and 19 competitors in the modified division.

Andrea Cristiani wins Trofeo Novarossi

Last weekend at the Fiorano track in Italy was the 2008 Trofeo Novarossi race for 1/10th and 1/8th scale, and it was attended by all the best Italian racers including Collari, Cristiani, Picco, Solaroli, Pirani, Balestri etc. The weather was perfect for the race and it was last years winner Andrea Cristiani, driving a Serpent, that took the pole position in 1/8th scale from Alberto Picco in 2nd, 4 seconds behind, with Stefano Solaroli in 3rd for Motonica and Lamberto Collari 4th for Kyosho. The final saw Cristiani go straight into the lead, avoiding the first lap bumping that saw some racers drop back. Setting the fastest lap of the race, 0.25 seconds faster than anyone else, Andrea was able to make a tyre change on his way to a dominant win, finishing 3 laps ahead of Picco in 2nd and Andrea Pirani in 3rd.

Hot Bodies Cyclone TC parts

Following the release of the Cyclone TC, which we showed you back in March, Hot Bodies have released the standard TC parts as option parts for the other Cyclone’s in the range. The front and rear bulkheads, as well as the middle block and motor mount are now available and are all purple anodised with the main difference being aesthetic, no longer featuring a chamfered edge. For performance improvements there are the new shock bodies for smoother shock action, while new front and rear graphite wishbones give an extra lower shock mount. Finally, there is the Cyclone TC sway bar holder that includes everything you need to upgrade to this new system with the exception of the anti-roll bar.

2008 HobbyPro Open Hong Kong

2008 HobbyPro Open Hong Kong

Last weekend say the HobbyPro Open race run in Hong Kong and it was open for 1/8th and 1/10th scale 200mm classes. With practice on Saturday affected by rain, the 100 racers that showed up on Sunday had to use their qualifiers to fine tune their set-up. Following the qualifying it was Samel Chiu that TQ’d 1/10th while in 1/8th scale it was Luk Chi Hung that took pole position. The main finals saw the win going to Dirty in 1/10th scale ahead of Chan Kain Man in 2nd and Lau Yiu Kei in 3rd, while in the 1/8th scale class the win went to Serpent racer Cheung Kin Ming ahead of Team C racers Luk Chi Hung and Choi Kam Man in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Kawada M300RSX 1/12th scale V2

Kawada have announced the follow up to their successful M300RSX 1/12th scale chassis, with the release of the Version 2. With most updates centred around the rear of the car, the new features include an updated 1/4″ rear ball diff, a new motor mount suitable for brushless motors and a new motor mount support that adds stiffness following the removal of the top carbon plate seen on the previous version. Finally, for improving the handling, there is a newly designed rear upper brace as well a high traction carbon fibre chassis plate.

Atomic RC High Grip Formula tires

Atomic RC have released these new High Grip Formula tires for use on Mini-Z chassis’. Featuring a radial tread pattern, this helps gain more rear grip under acceleration, while swapping the tires to have the tread pattern the opposite direction will give the car a different feeling. Available in 2 high grip models, silicone rubber and normal rubber, these tires have been extensively tested, and work best on carpet and RCP surfaces respectively.

Team Associated have been in contact to share some great videos from last weekend’s Reedy Race in California. The first 3 videos are from each of the triple A-mains in Modified (A-main 1 above), while the last 4 show the action from round 8 of the Invitational class with the last showing Heat 4 which sees Hirosaka, Hara, Rheinard and Hohwart battling it out for the win.
