The recent FinTrack Tour II was organised by KyPak and it attracted a good amount of drivers to compete in several electric on-road classes including Touring Cars and Formula. In the Formula category it was Aapo Koro who dominated the qualifiers to take the TQ and with it the pole position for the triple A-mains. …class and on Sunday a FWD class was run, both in a more familiar two qualifying rounds and two final rounds format. The invitational ProStock class gathered a variety of top Finnish national FinTrack-Tour series drivers from the several classes to race each other in a more laid-back fun event. The invitational class also had some interesting names in the mix, especially Christer Andersson who made a one-off comeback with a borrowed Yokomo BD7 after a two year hiatus from the sport. The 2nd round of the Finnish 1/12 scale national series, the FinTrack Tour, took place in Oulu, Northern Finland last weekend. The organising club OSPA will host the 2012 Nordic Challenge for both 1/12 and Touring cars in October as well as hosting the 2013 1/12 Euros. The race combined both 1/12 and touring classes as an exception as for many years the classes have been run separated to get more suitable conditions for both type of racing. The first round of Finnish 12th scale nationals were held in the city of Seinajoki, close to Vaasa city where 1/10 electric offroad were held last summer. This year’s famous FinTrack Tour has been divided in to both 12th and touring car series separately, which means both classes get more suitable tracks to race on. The 12th scale national championship series consists of 4 races held from January to April. The 3rd round of the FinTrack Tour nationals was held last weekend in Kiiminki, near the city of Oulu in Northern Finland. Most of the 1/12 tops were attending, with names like Simo Ahoniemi, Teemu Saarinen, Tony Raikas, Tom Kalves, Viljami Kutvonen, Panu Vehniainen and of course championship leader Vesa Yli from the organizing club, OSPA. The venue was a big school sports hall with plenty of room for pitting and spectators. Finnish indoor season on road nationals aka FinTrack Tour continued at Southern Finland at the city of Tampere last weekend. The venue was a huge sport hall with several separated game fields for indoor games. Due to recent cold weather conditions, the hall was pretty cold inside, only about 12-14C degrees during the day as it was -25C outside with blowing wind making it feel like -50C. Korean electric accessories manufacturer, Much More, have confirmed that they have signed up top Team Associated driver Juho Levanen from Finland. Levanen, who will now use Much More products, has dominated this years Fintrack series as well as winning the LRP Masters in April while the highlight of his racing career so far must definitely be his back to back European 1/10th scale Touring car titles in 2002 and 2003.
