Yet another Shepherd signing, this time its German lady racer Sabrina Lechner who following on from last months announcement that she will run IDM motors has agreed to run the German made Velox for this season. Alongside IDM motors, European ‘B’ Championship semi finalist Sabrina will also run the new ATS made IDM tires in this years German Nationals. JP Racing, distributors for Shepherd in France, have announced that leading French 1/8th scale racer Stephane Bouche will race the Velox in this years French and European Championships. Similar to Eric Dankel, Stephane leaves behind a successful spell at Mugen that saw him finish as runner up in last years Nationals and Coupe de France. Joining what is fast becoming a competitive team with Ielasi, Pietsch & Dankel, Bouche is also joined at Shepherd by fellow French racer Richard Volta, a National round winner last year, he too is a former Mugen racer. European ‘B’ Vice Champion Eric Dankel from Germany has agreed a 2 year deal with Shepherd Micro Racing to drive their newly released Velox 1/8th scale chassis. We got word from Shepherd Racing that newly signed team driver Daniele Ielasi won last weekend in Lucca, Italy in his first race with the Velox. With the Shepherd team, consisting of Robert Pietsch, Patrick Schäfer and Armin Weihert, in attendance to give support, Daniele quickly became comfortable with the car and could improve his lap times constantly. The race saw 50 drivers in attendance including 2 time European Champion Dario Balestri as well as Marco Vanni and Stefano Puccinelli and after Saturday’s practice session it was clear that the battle for the win would be between Dario and Daniele….
