Following on from his win in the 1st round of the Southern German regionals, and his podium spot at last months Swiss GP, Robert Pietsch was once again in top form taking the win at the 2nd round of the regional championships, held last weekend in Türkheim. The Shepherd Velox driver claimed the TQ spot after 6 rounds of qualifying on his way to setting a new track record, while Andreas Hammerl, driving for Kyosho, lined up 2nd followed by Euro-B Vice champion Eric Dankel in 3rd. Italian Mugen racer Alberto Picco has won this weekends Swiss GP held at the huge Lostallo track. Having qualified in 4th position, Picco managed to win the 45 minute final by 1 lap ahead of German Kyosho driver Stefan Hanauer who, at the end of the final, was only 2 seconds ahead of fellow German driver Robert Pietsch racing the ever improving Shepherd Velox. Last weekend, the MAC Nürnberg hosted the first round of the German Region South Series at their track, the Nürnberg Zollhausring. The event was open to both 1/8th and 1/10th scale classes and in the 1/8th scale class it was Robert Pietsch, driving the new Shepherd Velox prototype, that took the pole position ahead of Kyosho racer Andreas Hammerl who qualified 2nd with Philip Eberle in 3rd. We first reported on the Robert Pietsch designed Shepherd Racing Velox 1/8th scale back in February when it was shown for the first time at the Nurnberg toy fair. SMI, the German importers of Xray cars, has announced on their site the 11 strong team that will contest the German Nationals driving the Slovakian manufacturers new 200mm chassis, the NT1. For the southern region they have Alexander Stocker, Thomas Günsel, Michael Heinrich and Robert Pietsch, the latter if you recall is the designer of the Shepherd Velox 07. German manufacturer Shepherd are present at the toy fair and are showing off their new Velox 07 1/8th scale 4wd chassis (click image for bigger pic). From what we can see the rear end looks similar to the Speed that they currently have on the market, but the radio plate layout and front end looks completely new. This will be the first results of Shepherds hook up with Robert Pietsch that we announced 2 weeks ago. UPDATE: Patrick Schäfer from Shepherd has been in touch and put us right on the whats new on the car, which is basically everything….
