MOD/TLR 5th scale Championship – Report

The 2019 MOD/TLR 5th scale Championship series recently concluded after visiting a total of six separate tracks across the West Coast. Hosting tracks were Socal Nitro Raceway, Fear Farm, Delta RC, Good Ol Boys, CVR 2.0, and Wild West Raceway with the series not only spreading the awareness of 5th scale racing but also drawing in racers from all the regions to be able to experience different conditions, different layouts, and different challenges. In its first year the championship brought in a lot of new racers as well as helped improve each region’s knowledge of 5th scale in order to help cultivate club racing at a local level and help promote the hobby for the better. In 4WD Pro Buggy it was David John Orner, running a Matt Olson loaner car, with the overall championship in his maiden large scale season. Chris Higa and ADI’s own Josh Alton came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

HB Racing vented Mod 0.8 clutch bells

HB Racing have introduced their new Module 0.8 vented clutch bells that help cool the clutch for more reliability during long races. The Mod 0.8 gears have a finer gear pitch for smoother and quieter gear mesh, finer gear ratio adjustment, and improved drivetrain efficiency. They are precision machined from high strength steel and designed to be a direct bolt-in replacement part for non-vented Module 0.8 clutch bells. The clutch bells are available in 16T and 17T specification and they fit HB Racing’s 59T and 60T module 0.8 spur gears.

Exotek RB7 alloy front camber mount & wing stays

Starting with the front camber link mount, the heavy duty 7075 aluminium construction front bulkhead is of an updated design to accept the RB7 front roll bar and finished with Exotek’s 2-colour black with red chamfer anodising to give any RB7 that extra special factory look. The 1-piece design eliminates the two plastic steering post spacers and includes two M3 set screws to hold in the steering posts for a snug fit. RDRP B74 Slipper Eliminator

Ruddog Distribution have announced the release of the new RDRP Slipper Eliminator for the Team Associated B74 4WD buggy. The direct spur gear hub is the ultimate option part for all stock racers as it greatly lowers not only the drivetrain’s rotation masses but also the buggy’s overall weight, making for blistering fast acceleration, lower motor temperatures and thus more power towards the end of the run. The slipper eliminator weighs in at about 17.4g including the supplied ultra lightweight 72T main gear, scrubbing about 50 percent of weight compared to the original slipper assembly it is replacing. Due to its lightweight design the slipper eliminator is best used with motors of more than 10.5T as it will not withstand the power of modified motors.
