…a strict limit on how the Solaris spec tires were used, to eliminate all “tire games” and force all drivers to drive hard every round on the track. The weather was unseasonably cool with high’s in the low-mid 80s F (27 C) for the event, which was definitely welcomed by racers. Steel City Raceway of Fontana, California played host to the 2018 Sanwa Grand Prix last weekend. The race was held in several electric and nitro classes and it was Mugen’s JJ Wang who would lead the way in 1/10th 200m Nitro Sedan. JJ took the top qualifier honours and he also came out successful in the 30-minutes A-main, leaving behind Serpent’s Ralph Burch in 2nd, a lap down. Round 6 of the CTS3 was held at Steel City RC Speedway in Fontana, California. The weather was a major factor reaching temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit making it more challenging for both drivers and cars. In the Modified division, Team Associated veteran Rick Hohwart set TQ for Q1 on Saturday. On Sunday Brandon Clements (Awesomatix) would better the TQ till Q3 as JJ Wang (Xray) ups it with a flawless run putting himself pole position for the A-main. …nitro racing and bringing people of all nationalities living in China together to share a passion for racing. Last weekend on the hottest day this summer so far in Shanghai, Serpent team driver Rocket Zhang took the TQ honors. However, it was Italian Lorenzo Bali who drove his Picco powered Mugen to a close victory over Mihnea Lupu from Canada in the 30-minute main. Jimmy Qian from Shanghai took 3rd. The N8 club also bid farewell and sends best wishes to the Lupu’s who will be repatriating back to Canada this coming Fall. Thanks to Rick Wang for the report….

The KO Propo Grand Prix was held at Steel City RC Raceway in Fontana, California this past weekend. The event was held in several 1/8th and 1/10th and 1/5th classes and in 1/10th 200mm Nitro Sedan it was Mugen’s JJ Wang with the TQ from Xray’s Mike Swauger on the 2 spot after the qualifiers. JJ then also brought home the win in the 30-minutes main final some twelve seconds in front of Mike Swauger as Bryce Butterfield rounded out the podium result for Xray some two laps down. DJ Apolaro and Jose Casas would complete the top 5 results….

Having taken a win in the opening round of racing at the Reedy Race of Champions Marc Rheinard has become the first repeat winner as he held off Christopher Krapp in Race 2 of the third round. Starting from the outside of the front row, the Infinity driver got the jump and broke clear quickly but once Krapp found a way passed pole sitter Randy Caster, he quickly reeled in his fellow countryman. In the end however Krapp got caught at the loop allowing Rheinard to take a victory lap with JJ Wang finishing a close third. Following Rheinard’s win…

The second round of racing at the Reedy Race of Champions produced an all new batch of winners with Akio Sobue, JJ Wang and Viktor Wilck registering their first wins of the event. In the first of the 3 encounters, Infinity’s Sobue recovered from a first lap altercation with the Tamiya Raceway’s kink to come from the back to win ahead of Meen Vejrak.
