Motonica P8.0R

Just before the Nurnberg toy fair in February, we brought you the first pictures of the new P8.0R from Motonica. Well now thanks to our site sponsor, The Border, we now have the full set of studio images for this rather attractive car as well as the new 4wd Base and Classic cars, the latter which you have already seen on this site. If you like what you see, the P8.0R can be pre ordered by clicking here, with the car expect to be in stock by the end of march with the Classic one month later.

Motonica P8.0 Classic 2wd

Motonica P8.0 Classic

Just before the Nürnberg toy fair we showed you the new product range from Motonica which amongst other things included the all new P8.0 Classic, a 2wd flat pan chassis. This was a strange choice of car to start producing, considering the numbers involved in this class which really only exists in the south of Europe, but despite this fact Motonica have created a rather attractive and i’m sure competitive car. Sporting a full carbon fibre chassis plate the car is rear wheel drive and receives the power to its back wheels through a belt from the single speed gearbox shaft. The center part of the car is taken from the P8.0 4wd chassis which includes the fuel tank as well as the cars innovative radio mounting system that sports 2 laydown servos, whilst the front of the car is mounted on top of a floating front plate, as is the norm in this class. The car looks good and there is a lot of interest in it from the Classique class faithful, so who knows perhaps we may see a new resurgence of this class in the near future.

Serpent release the 720 ’07 version

Serpent 720 ‘07 version

On Wednesday we brought you the first pictures of the new 2007 version of the Serpent 960, well now we have info on its little brother, the 720. The 720 ’07 follows along the same lines as the 1/8th scale car in that its changes are only minor and mostly involve the inclusion of previous optionals now as standard. The 2007 version 720 will come with black chassis plate, front CVDs, servo saver with adjustable ackerman, nylon adjustable pivot ball nuts, upgraded fuel tank with o-ring sealed AFL lid and as an extra will include the front one-way axle along with lock set to to able to turn it into a solid front axle. All these extra parts should turn an already top performing chassis into a even better car.

First Pictures – Serpent 960 ’07 version

Serpent 960 '07 version
(Cick image to enlarge)

So we are very excited to bring you the first pictures of the new 1/8th scale for the 2007 season from Serpent, the 960 ’07. The car itself hasnt changed much from the previous car that won last years European A and B titles but it does have some nice optionals now included as standard. First off you notice that the car has a black anodised chassis plate, which is all about the looks, but then you see that it includes the aluminium front upper suspension brackets, servo saver with adjustable ackermann and it also comes as standard with front CVD’s, something customers have been asking for, for some time. We’re told that the car also has harder plastics throughout and will be stiffer, in particular in the drive train where the left sideplate is stronger and along with a redesigned left rear bearing block, eliminates flex in this area.

Hirosaka prototype Kyosho Stallion TF-5

Hirosaka prototype Kyosho Stallion TF-5

We’ve written briefly about Masaaki Hirosaka, father of multiple World Champion Masami and top RC mechanic, before and the fact that he makes some pretty cool well thought out products. Well here is his take on the Kyosho Stallion TF-5 which takes a different approach to that used by Josh Cyrul who’s car we saw at the Snowbirds. As you can see from the pictures, the batteries have been set further back than normal and where the top deck connects with the front bulk head is pretty unique too, although i cant tell you exactly why. Also note that the rear body mount is bolted directly to the bulkhead which means the downforce generated by the body shell is pushed straight down onto the chassis, its mounting position also protecting it from crashes.

Masaaki has also created patent pending one touch total length adjustment shock absorbers. I cant tell how they work either but i have included pictures of them below.

Shepherd Racing Velox 07 prototype

Shepherd Racing Velox 07

German manufacturer Shepherd are present at the toy fair and are showing off their new Velox 07 1/8th scale 4wd chassis (click image for bigger pic). From what we can see the rear end looks similar to the Speed that they currently have on the market, but the radio plate layout and front end looks completely new. This will be the first results of Shepherds hook up with Robert Pietsch that we announced 2 weeks ago.

UPDATE: Patrick Schäfer from Shepherd has been in touch and put us right on the whats new on the car, which is basically everything. Hit more to read the full list of changes… content

Motonica P8.0 Base

Motonica P8.0 Base

Yesterday we showed you a preview of the new cars from Motonica which included the R version of the original P8.0 as well as a Classic class pan car. Well now we get a closer look at the P8.0 base, which i couldnt figure out yesterday, and apparently this car is a cheaper starter car based on the original P8.0 4wd car. Although this car is also 4wd from the pictures it appears to have no suspension and no radio plate and must qualify as one of the strangest concepts for a car that i’ve seen in a while.

Xray NT1 first real picture

Xray NT1

I’m sorry for the 3 Xray posts in a row but they have some highly anticipated cars coming out and none more so than the all new Xray NT1 as seen above (click image for larger pic). This car has been majorly hyped and made its small time debut a few weeks back when it won a regional race on its first outing in Florida with the cars international debut comes in 2 weeks at the Florida Winternats. What about the car itself, well from what we can see it bears close similarities to the Mugen MTX and Kyosho RRR in looks at least, whilst the car itself looks pretty safe in design with no major, Team Magic style, innovation. We hope to get more details and pics later.
