Myron Kinnard wins at 2020 Summer Sizzler

Soda City RC Raceway of Columbia, South Carolina held their 2020 Summer Sizzler last weekend in several 1/10th and 1/12th scale electric on-road classes. In USVTA it was Nathan Flores with the overall TQ, however the single 8-minute A-main saw Myron Kinnard with the win, after taking the lead in the opening stages of the race and never looking back. Nathan had to settle for 2nd overall, only 0.3 seconds behind while Tony T came in 3rd overall, some two laps down.

Markus Hellquist takes Swedish IC Track title

The Lidköpings R/C Club hosted the Swedish Nitro and Electric On-road Nationals this past weekend with classes run included 1/8th IC Track, 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring as well as Electric Modified Touring. In the premier class of 1/8th IC Track it was Mikael Fransson with the overall TQ a narrow 0.1 seconds in front of Alexander Andersson. Markus Hellquist came in 3rd overall, another 0.2 seconds back. In the main final Markus kept the car on the wheels, and after 41 minutes and with one fuel stop remaining he was right behind Niclas Nilsson, fighting for the win. Markus’ mechanic pulled out a quick pit stop, letting him exit the pit lane just in front of Niclas to take the lead Markus would hold onto until the chequered flag, taking the win just 0.8 seconds in front of Niclas Nilsson. Niklas Johansson came in 3rd overall, already three laps behind.

Heart of America Series Rd4 – Report

Round 4 of the Heart of America Series was held this past weekend in 1/8th Open, 1/10th 200mm Nitro Sedan and GT8 classes. In the 1/8th Open class it was Eric Jones (Capricorn) with the overall TQ and also the win in the 30-minute A-main as Mugen’s Bob Block and Capricorn’s Jason Reger came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Lukas Hoch TQs & wins at Brno club race

The Czech RC MCC Brno club held round 3 of the club racing series this past weekend in pretty hot weather conditions. In the Formula EFRA class it was Lukas Hoch with a pretty dominant TQ some four seconds in front of Tomas Sova. When the dust had settled after the four A-mains, it was still Lukas on top after winning all four legs for the overall victory in front of Tomas Sova in 2nd and Marek Sova in 3rd. Ales Horak and Marek Hradisky came in 4th and 5th respectively.

2020 U.S. VTA Nationals – Announcement

APEX Raceway and Hobbies of Murfreesboro, Tennessee will host the 2020 U.S. VTA Nationals from the 17th to 20th of September. This year the organizers are looking to make the event the best its ever been, offering many great things including low entry prices, more practice and setup time, 1st and 2nd places trophy for B mains, plenty of door prizes, and many more things to be added later. The event will still have the signature 1-minute VTA qualifier as well as the all important TQ sign-up and paid, that gets a free entry to the VTA class. This year track owner Eric “EA” Anderson has made some very important changes and upgrades to the track and the layout will be very racer friendly while still being technical for the most advance driver. Thurston & Mansell win at British 1/8 IC Track opener

The 1/8 Circuit British Open Championship 2020 finally started with a full entry at the famous Halifax circuit in the UK. Limited numbers were allowed in each race and precautions in place to follow Coronavirus guidance and keep racers safe. Both nitro and electric classes were popular with many new drivers trying their hand at 1/8 after lockdown, the British weather played its part with a damp track at times, in qualifying Alex Thurston lead the way in the nitro class from Tim Wood and James Conolly. In the electric class it was a close battle with Jamie Paton, newcomer Mikey Mansell, Rob Scott and Michael Lee with Capricorn driver Mikey taking TQ.

RC-Lemans Series Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the 2020 RC-Lemans Series was hosted by the MCC Rhein Ahr track in Germany last weekend. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic the event was a maiden one this year for many drivers and thus Saturday’s practice was extensively used to get in the first runs of the season. Both the club and the drivers swiftly adapted to the new measures that had to be taken to guarantee everyone’s safety and things really worked out great from the get go. Sunday kicked off less smoothly however as overnight rain forced the organisers to delay the start of the race for about an hour. When things finally started off and in the fast LMP1 Modified class, it was Tim Altmann who set the pace in the opening qualifier. He took the round with a lap margin from last year’s vice champion, Tobias Weist and his brother Kai Altmann.

Danish DASU IC Track Nationals Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Danish DASU IC Track Nationals was hosted by the Hillerod RC Racing club last weekend in 1/8th Nitro, 1/10th Nitro, 1/8th GTe and 1/5th scale classes. 1/8th IC Track would see Anders Lind (Xray) taking the overall TQ and he also came out on top after the 30-minute A-main event, leaving behind Marcus Christian Nordberg in 2nd and Morten Skov Nielsen (Xray) in 3rd.
