Rick V wins Dutch 1/8th NK Rd4

The 4th round of the Dutch championship was held on the very small and tricky circuit of MBC de Sluis in Gouda. The day started with nice weather, and although the forecast did predict rain it stayed dry the whole day. In the NK it was surprising to see Joey Sorber taking the pole folowed by John Ermen, Rick V and Ilia v. Gastel. In the main final it was John who was kicked out after 2 corners from the start trying to overtake Joey Sorber. Joey was strong in the lead but had to retire after 20 minutes. Rick V, driving the SM engine, took the lead after 7 laps and despite a tyre change at 15 minutes that allowed John Ermen into the lead, he would go on to take the win. In 2nd place it was John Ermen with a damaged car due some accidents on the track, while 3rd spot went to Rik Veenma who was racing a steady race.

The podium was completed by Kyosho driver Bernd Rausch on second and Mugen racer Sebastian Buerge on third. Following an excellent practice session on Saturday race day started with sad news. In the drivers briefing race director Holger Schluss informed the total of 41 competitors that Dieter Weck, the nitro on-road chairman of the German rc racing association DMC, had passed away during the night because of a heart attack. In a minute of silence the RC community commemorated Dieter Weck who was a man in action and racer with all his heart.

Beautiful Omaha, Nebraska played host to the 2009 ROAR Electric Off-Road Nationals and without disappointment the surroundings, facility and competition was second to none. In qualifying JConcepts driver Ryan Maifield put his Associated B4 buggy in the TQ position for the 2wd class, while also qualifying up-front in the 2 other modified classes. Maifield was to go on and take the win in the Modified Truck class however, winning A-main leg 1 and 2 using JConcept’s Double Dee’s tires and Illuzion Hi-Flow body and spoiler, to claim the title.

Josué Artiles wins Rd2 in Spain

Josué Artiles wins Rd2 in Spain

The 2nd round of the Spanish 1/8th scale National series was held earlier this month at the Club Autet Track in Almussafes, host of last years 1/8th scale European Championships. Once again the race saw 70 drivers registered and the hot sunny weather let the drivers enjoy a nice racing weekend. Following qualifying Oscar Cabezas got the TQ spot followed by local driver Nacho López, current Champion Josué Artiles and Sergio Montesinos. In the final Josué Artiles made a great start and overtook Óscar Cabezas, who was running with big tires so as to not have to change, and in the very first laps set a pace that no one else could follow and so could take the win from Cabezas. There was an interesting fight for the third place involving three drivers, which finally went the way of former Spanish Champion Sergio Montesinos with Israel Solís and Víctor González eventually taking 4th and 5th respectively.
