New from Avid come 5.8mm titanium pivot balls with M3 thread and 3mm hex head. Weighing in at 0.36g each they can scrub a good amount of weight especially in higher placed areas such as upper shock mounts and they are usable on a range of 1/8th and 1/10th scale on-road cars such as the ones from Xray, ARC, Serpent, HB, Kyosho and others. The pivot balls come in sets of four in a reusable doodad container.

Xtreme Aerodynamics have introduced the all-new S3 stiffeners for their 1/8th scale bodyshells. The tube-style screw-on plastic parts are user-friendly, reusable and they have been designed to efficiently reinforce the bodyshell to maximise performance. They attach to the body in the pre-shaped areas, doing away with the need to cut and fit fiddly polycarbonate pieces.
ProlevelRC in Saint Louis, Missouri was the host of the 2016 ROAR Carpet On-Road Nationals. The Modified Touring Car class had some of the closest racing all weekend long with world class drivers battling it out for the top spot. Chris Adams set TQ in round 4 and would start from the point in the triple A-mains. The Xray driver drove two flawless runs in A2 and A3, securing the Nationals Title in front of Paul Lemieux and Andrew Hardman in second and third respectively.

The annual IRCC Airport Race will take place from the 10th to 12th of June at the Chubu International Airport in Japan. As usual a purpose-build track will be laid out in an event hall near the arrivals section. With the airport having a hotel and restaurants, you won’t need to do much travelling and can in fact access the track by foot. The race will see the running of several on-road classes including Stock TC, FWD, Modified and Stock 1/12th scale, Formula, World GT and more with racers from the USA, Korea, Macao and other countries being awaited. Protoform have introduced their highly awaited LTC 2.0 190mm touring car bodyshell. The next generation of the ultra-successful, but 8 years old LTC-R offers an updated front fascia design with a large, striking front grille for looks while on the functionality side of things, deeper headlight recesses have proven on the track to create more steering and downforce, increasing rotation and change of direction. At the rear of the body, the lower fenders are redesigned to be stiffer and less prone to body tucks. Included is Protoform’s popular wing design first seen on the Pro-TC kit and Dodge Dart, now featuring two trim lines for tuning to a specific class or track condition. Another feature of the body are mounting marks inside the scrap Lexan in the front wheel wells. Mounting positions are marked for 0 (neutral), +2mm, +4mm and +6mm to allow for easy body positioning, a feature widely used by both pros and club racers. As a rule of thumb; the more forward the race body is mounted, the more aggressive the handling will feel. The LTC 2.0 complies with the Global Body Spec rules, it is fully EFRA and ROAR approved and comes in regular .030″ and lightweight .025″ variants.
Following a first teaser Serpent have now released full details on the new Cobra GT 1/8th on-road kits. Coming as nitro and electric variant both feature new front and rear aluminium suspension mounts to optimise the suspension geometry by making for flatter A-arm angles which suits on-road racing better. The kits also include 6 degree aluminium C-hubs and rear uprights to further improve the suspension package while new aluminium shock absorber risers allow for optimised shock angles to further up the on-track performance. The suspension package is rounded out by a set of redesigned 4.5mm carbon fibre shock towers.
Ielasi Tuned have introduced their all-new .21 Rally engines in the form of the 9CL and the 7CL. The 9 and 7-port long stroke engines both feature new cooling heads with Ielasi Tuned logos, rear ceramic bearings, new design conrods and they are hand-modified by Daniele Ielasi himself. The EFRA-legal engines complement the IFMAR-legal 5CL GT Rally and they become available very soon.

The opening round of the Spanish Nitro Touring Nationals was held at the Almussafes track this past weekend. The event was the first to be held under the new national rules including a Super Pole event and after the qualifiers Sergi Franch came out fastest from Jonhi Pastor and Nacho Lopez. Victor Pelaez would round out the top 4 with the latter three would run in the Super Pole format to evaluate the starting grid positions behind Sergi, with Victor coming out fastest from Nacho and Jonhi. The main final then saw Victor Pelaez taking the win in the 30 minute encounter following some struggling in the opening stages when the top 4 drivers were in tight battles for the positions. Behind Victor, Jonhi Pastor would grab the runner-up spot from David Belen. Jose Antonio Aldudo and Nacho Lopez rounded out the top 5.
