Team Orion Vortex R10.1 brushless speed controller

Team Orion Vortex R10.1 brushless speed controller

Seen for the first time at this year’s Nuremberg International Toyfair Team Orion’s latest competition 1/10th scale speed controller is about to hit the market. The Vortext R10.1 is the follow-up model of the successful R10 and features a new case design with a new-shape heatsink, a slightly redesigned black-colour case, a rubber cap to close the empty sensor port when needed and also all-black receiver and switch wires. Inside the 2S-compatible R10.1 sports new hardware for a lower internal resistance and increased current load capacities. The firmware also received an update for added punch in “boosted” stock classes while offering improved overall drivability to make for even smoother throttle response. We understand that the controller becomes available very soon.

WRC F-One '014 kit & STX option parts

Italian company WRC Racing introduce their latest formula 1 kit in the form of the F-One ‘014 as well as new option parts for the STX touring car. Starting with the kit, information about the exact features are not available yet but looking at the renderings the car received quite a makeover compared to its predecessor with new front suspension parts that now feature vertical lower and horizontally mounted upper pivot balls, the steering is of a single bellcrank design with the steering links sitting very low as does the bellcrank thanks to a special design where the servo links attach from above while the actual steering lever sits below in a mid-deck. The main chassis place is cut from carbon fibre and very short, compared to the usual designs as the front of the chassis is made up by a separate parts that houses a low-profile steering servo and the steering assembly. The battery compartment takes a 2S shorty pack and the rear motor pod also looks redesigned but we have to await official information on the full features.

Vizon 3D printed TC rear wings

Vizon 3D printed TC rear wings

Previously 3D printing techniques, or rapid prototyping, was used to built mock-up products too brittle for on-track use but with improving materials 3D printed parts become usable “in action” too. A good example is the Vizion touring car rear wing made by a company called Shapeways. U.S. on-road legend Josh Cyrul introduced the Vizon branded wings to the public with the 190mm TC wing being available as a high and medium downforce version, both greatly improve the overall grip and stability of car. The wing comes white and in a slightly grainy finish and it has to be painted not only to match the body’s colour but also to make for more flexibility and durability as the porous material soaks up the paint. We understand that more Vizon products will surface very soon with several 1/12th scale rims and option parts being in the making.
