Riccobono & Thirion win French nationals Rd3

Last week-end the third round of the French 1/8 scale on-road national championship was held in Evry/France near Paris. The track which held the European Championships many years ago saw close racing in the Promotion and Elite classes. In the Promotion class called “national” in France, Damien Thirion claimed the TQ spot with Jeremy Cassagne and Vincent Nousse in second and third place respectively. It also was Damien who drove his RB-powered Xray RX8 to the first place in the finals with Gregory Tassencourt in second and Stephane Bertrand in third place after the finals. The Elite class was led by Christophe Aygon after qualification with Stephane Bouche and Christophe Louis in second and third place. Come the finals things turned for the better for eight placed Stephane Riccobono who won the 45 minute finals with his RB-powered RX8 in front of the two Motonica drivers Stephane Bouche and Arnaud Mathieu.

Winter & Brunet win Electric bike Worlds warm-up

The electric bike World Championship warm-up race took place at the first week of June at the famous Lostallo track in Switzerland. The contestants had been faced with mixed weather conditions making setup of the bikes difficult. In the Stock Bike class, that doesn’t allow for front brakes and calls for a minimum weight of 1900g and 17.5T brushless motors, it was Andrea Selva who claimed TQ followed by 13-years old Antoine Brunet and Thomas Feilner from Germany. In the Super Bike Class Oliver Wäckerle from Germany was able to grab himself the top spot followed by Andy Spiess from Switzerland and Soren Jorgensen from Denmark. Come the final day rain started poring down heavily making the finals very challenging some with with the better end for young Antoine Brunet taking the first place in the Stock Bike class ahead of TQ Andrea Selva and Thomas Feilner. The Super Bikes where dominated by Edi Winter from Austria who won in front of Marc Lutz from Germany and San Marino based Gianni Zonzini.

Xray have produced this graphite rear body centering plate set for their RX8 chassis. Tough, strong and lightweight, the rear centering plate for RX8 made from thick, CNC-machined, top-grade graphite and is supplied with the aluminium collars and screws required to mount it.

Puepke & Schewiola lead Nitro West Masters after Rd2

Rene Puepke in 1/10 scale and Frank Schewiola in 1/8 scale are leading the rankings after two rounds of the Nitro West Masters, a series of five race weekends held in Western Germany. Both Serpent racers were able to win at the season opener at Oberhausen as well at round two held at Dueren. Also in the newly launched 1/8 Hobby Cup class with unified engines from Novarossi both races saw the same winner with Mugen driver Thilo-Alexander Toedtmann.

Capricorn LAB options & clutch parts

Capricorn have released these Dario Balestri developed dual trackrods for the C-801. They connect the two front suspension brackets for better cornering speed and faster steering response. Also new are these new aluminium clutch bells for Xray RX8, Mugen MRX5, Serpent 966 and LAB C-801. Weighing in at around 3.6 grams, low end torque and top speed are dramatically increased. After much testing, the clutch shoe to use on those bells is their new black carbonium / molibdenum compound which ensures outstanding grip performances and a longer lifetime. Other new clutch parts include a lightweight hard coated aluminium flywheel nut, which helps reduce the weight of the moving parts. There is also new yellow extra hard front shock springs, a new tyre glue called 140% tires glue and a new aluminium setup system for 1/10th scale which comes supplied in a handy carry case.

Jefferies & Smith win rain hit BRCA Rd2

Round two of this years BRCA national 1:10 on road championship was renamed in honour of the passing of Mike Reedy, the Reedy Cotswold national saw a full entry of top UK drivers the only noticeable absentee being Elliott Harper who opted to miss this round in favour of revising for exams. Starting car one was reigning champion Chris Grainger, the Schumacher driver had made a great start to the season taking round one at West London and was looking to make it two out two in the Super Touring class. Saturday saw Andy Moore start well in the Super Touring class and he led the qualifying overnight from Olly Jefferies and Chris Kerswell, in pro stock it was James Hart up front for Schumacher ahead of David Hall and Chris Slater.

Robert Pietsch wins Luxembourg EFRA GP

Last weekend saw the Luxembourg EFRA GP take place at the Mini Circuit Ville de Luxembourg, the same track that will host this year’s 1/8th scale on road European Championship in July. World Champion and Mugen/Contact tires driver Robert Pietsch took TQ with his Novarossi powered MRX-5 in mixed weather conditions. He was able to win his semi final and started with number 1 in the main final. In the 45 minute final he lead from start to finish setting his best lap time, 2 tenths of a second faster than all the others drivers, and took a comfortable victory by 3 laps over Daniele Ielasi in 2nd and Rick Vrielijnck in 3rd.
