Bastian Hennig wins Stock class at DHI Cup

With all the attention normally focussed on the Modified category at big races, it sometimes overshadows the great competition that takes place in the other classes. Whilst we focused on Ronald VÃ¶lkers win at last weekends DHI Cup, it was Bastian Hennig, driving and Xray, that took the stock class win after starting from 2nd place after qualifying. Bastian managed some better results in the A-main to get passed pole man Dennis Fadtke and take the overall class win with Fadtke dropping 1 place back to take 2nd overall, ahead of Lars Hoppe who took the final podium step in 3rd. Bastian was running the Orcan batteries that we featured on our site a few weeks back to take the win.

Calshot Velodrome race announcement

Calshot Velodrome

Anyone who has ever want to run full speed around a cycling velodrome with their RC car, then this is the event for you. Supported by Much More UK, the race is open to 1/12 or 1/10 pan car or a 1/10 touring car and they reckon you can average up to 53mph over a lap, which is pretty quick. Guy Thornton wins latest round of BIWS

Guy Thornton BIWS

Xray racer Guy Thornton has won the penultimate round of the British Indoor Winter Series held last weekend at the Don Valley Stadium. Benefitting from a crash between pole man and race leader Ben Cosgrove, who was running 5 cell in preperation for the upcoming BRCA National season, and a back marker, Guy didnt have to be invited twice and took the lead. Despite huge pressure from Hot Bodies racer Elliot Harper, who was recovering from the same collision that took Ben out, Guy held on to take the win.

Olly Jeffries wins Rd5 of Carpet Thrashnals

Olly Jeffries, who was forced to compete in 19T class after insufficient numbers in Modified, has taken TQ and won round 5 of the Carpet Thrashnals. Driving his Hot Bodies Cyclone, Olly struggled to get a balance in his car the whole event yet still managed to do well despite what turned out to be problems with his tyres.

I struggled with my set up for most of the day and my car never felt balanced, Russ looked very quick and put me under a lot of pressure, I had to adapt my driving style a little making sure I made no mistakes and hoping that others around me would make errors, this was the case and I was able to take FTD comfortably.

Protoform have released the successor to their race winning DNA 190mm body that has done so well on carpet since it was released. The new body is designed specifically for rubber tire applications. Significant changes were made to optimize the stability and grip levels of this body because of the unique characteristics of rubber tires on carpet and paved tracks. The signature DNA look remains, but the fenders now offer more clearance for 64mm diameter tires and the aero package is more aggressive.

Kyosho release 2D Racing Clutch

Kyosho 2D Racing Clutch

Kyosho have announced the release of their new 2D Racing clutch which has been developed for high level competition and modern high revving engines. Made to fit their 1/10th scale 200mm chassis’ it seems to be just an upgrade in materials used over the original version, with benefits being to clutch consistency and durability.

A new nickel-plated lightweight flywheel has a smooth, polished surface that allows the clutch flyweights to move smoothly and consistently. The red clutch shoe is the same high-grip material used in the 1:8 Evolva, which provides strong engagement with less slip, which reduces heat.

Robert Pietsch leaves Mugen for Shepherd

World Championship finalist and all round fast driver Robert Pietsch has left Mugen, a manufacturer he has raced with for many years, to work and race for Shepherd Racing. Shepherd racing took over the old Picco 1/8th scale car project a few years back and the car has only had minimum development since. Pietsch’s position at his new employer will involve designing and developing the car further as well as being its top team driver along with, son of Shepherd owner, Patrick SchÃ¤fer. We heard that issues over what engine Robert could run whilst racing last year for Mugen prompted his decision to move.
