Zac Ryan wins QLD Truggy State Titles

Zac Ryan wins QLD Truggy State Titles

Our Australian partners Rube Dude have a brief report from last weekends Queensland truggy State titles that were run at the Twin Cities Scale Model Motorsport Car Club in Townsville. The truggy class was TQ’d and won by HongNor racer Zac Ryan and he has also given his account of the event.

I was given a Hong Nor X1-CRT for the event, which I had never run before. Thursday I managed to work out the setup and after that I basically left the setup for the rest of meeting. By Sunday afternoon I had finished top qualifier in the semi final and went on to win the A-main by three laps.

Adam Drake Wins ROAR Buggy Nats

Adam Drake Wins ROAR Nationals

In an eventful final at this years ROAR Gas Buggy Nationals in Missouri, it was Team Losi driver Adam Drake that walked away with the National title. Up until the half way mark of the race it seemed to look like being a dominant victory by pole man Ryan Maifield, driving the Associated RC8, but continued technical problems dropped him down the order until he finally stopped completely. Adam Drake inherited the lead because of this, and despite a late charge by O’Donnell racer Jared Tebo in the closing stages of the 60 minute race, the Drake could hold on for the win, with Tebo close behind in 2nd, while the 3rd spot went to Ryan Cavalieri, driving the Associated buggy.

Images have started to surface on the internet from the new 2wd buggy of Korean RC manufacturer, Academy. The picture above is from RC Tech and shows the complete car in CAD format and as we can see it features a moulded chassis with centrally mounted stick pack configuration while the front end sports a unique looking steering C-hub setup. Other pictures from our partners RC Forum (see below) show, the tub chassis in detail and close ups of the rear end of the car, which looks pretty conventional. No word has been given on the expected release date of this car, or even the name, but we will let you know when we find out.

Xray 4-Hole Composite Shock Pistons

Xray 4-Hole Composite Shock Pistons

Xray have released details of their new 4-hole large-bore shock pistons which have been designed specifically for use with the wider XRAY shock absorbers, that are sold for the XT8 and XB8 EC. The newly-redesigned pistons use a new production process to improve roundness, ensuring perfect piston movement in all four shocks and each of the pistons have four straight holes, in sizes of 1.3mm 1.4mm and 1.5mm, in every set. The 4-hole pistons with the same hole diameter have increased oil flow compared to pistons with fewer holes (for example, 2-hole pistons). This allows the use of thicker shock oil, which will allow for different damping characteristics.

Maifield tops Rd1 of ROAR Nats qualifying

Maifield tops Rd1 of ROAR Nats qualifying

Rain has been heavily effecting this weekends ROAR Gas Buggy Nationals that are being held at the St. Louis Dirt Burners track in Missouri. With the weather basically eliminating all but a handful of practice sessions for the 300+ entries setups have not been perfected heading into qualifying. Yesterday saw the first round of qualifying, take place under dry weather conditions but on a track that is still soft from the rain. In that session it was Associated RC8 driver Ryan Maifield that took the fastest time in this round ahead of Jammin racer James Taylor, while World Champion Mark Pavidis, racing for Kyosho, ended up with the 3rd fastest time. Qualifying continues today, hopefully under dry conditions, and we will bring you an update after todays sessions.
