Last weekend saw the inaugural running of ‘LRP Micro Madness’. This new event on the micro off road calendar took place at the popular High Wycombe club, which features a permanent track and pitting area inside a converted warehouse unit in Buckinghamshire, UK. The event was sponsored by SMD and LRP and attracted a healthy entry of 46 drivers. Most of the UK’s top micro off road drivers were in attendance including the top 3 drivers from the 2008/9 BRCA nationals.
The organisers of the this years Swedish 1/10th scale EFRA GP that takes place in Göteborg, have contacted us to help announce the event. The race will take place on the 3rd to 5th of July this year and will be held on the Väst-8 track, hosts of next years European Championship for the same class. Run of course to EFRA rules, the event is open to a maximum of 120 drivers and you can register, as well as find more information about the race, on the official event site here.
The organisers of the 2009 Luxembourg EFRA GP for electric touring car, the official Euros Warmup race, have been in contact to promote the event. Taking place on the 26th to 28th of June, 2 weeks after the previously mentioned International race, the event will be run as per EFRA rules. You will have the possibility by prior reservation to get ‘EC’ tyres at the track, but as there will only be a limited quantity, please use the registration form to make the reservation. Also note that due to paddock limitations the number of drivers for the GP is limited to 100 and drivers with an international EFRA license take precedence over non-EFRA licensed drivers at EFRA Grand Prix in event of over subscription.

Just after signing his contract with Team Orion, American super star Mike Truhe has won the first race using the CRF US Spec engine. Taking part at the Astra Nitro Cross race in the Slovkov/Czech Republic, he won in front of Losi team mates Adam Drake and Martin Bayer.

Celebrating its 40 year anniversary, the Midwest Series is the oldest on road racing series in the world. To start their 2009 season, the first event was held in Toledo, Ohio (USA) host to this year’s ROAR US Open Nationals in September. With over 80 entries and picture perfect weather, the One Eighth Racers of Toledo hosted an outstanding event. Consisting of 8th open, 8th Masters, 1/10th Touring, and GT classes the Top qualifiers were Bobby Flack (Xray) in 1/10th Touring, Mike Cooper (Kyosho) in GT, Eli Ezrow (Shepherd) in 1/8th Masters and Josh Cyrul (Shepherd) in 1/8th Open.
Last Sunday saw the 3rd round of the Indonesian regionals take place at the huge WTC RC track in Jakarta. The final saw Kyosho driver John Agus start on pole, but problems for him later in the race meant he wouldn’t finish. At this point it was Jammin driver Darmadi who was leading and he eventually managed to pull out a laps advantage, over a minute, by the end of the race on eventual 2nd placed finisher Wijaya H driving a Kyosho, with Indra L rounding out the top 3, a lap further back.

This coming weekend marks the second race of the Lucas Oil Offroad Racing Series in which Team Associated is the official R/C car. This week’s event takes place at the Speedworld Motor Complex in Wittmann, AZ and just across the property from the famous R/C facility, The Nitro Pit. Team Associated will be on hand displaying products, conducting demonstrations and cross promoting the hobby of R/C to a whole new crop of people. Part of the AE campaign is the new enclosed trailer freshly wrapped by Signpros. With thousands of spectators expected to attend the event the opportunity for new R/C enthusiasts is high. Fun and spirited competition at the JConcepts Rage as the JConcepts crew took a trip north to the beautiful state of North Carolina for the 1st Annual JConcepts Rage, with Jason Ruona and Rob Meyer taking home the wins in the modified classes. The big news at the JConcepts Rage was the spectacular Carolina’s R/C indoor track and racing surface. JConcepts Events race director Fred Reep put on a flawless high energy program with 5 rounds of qualifying and triple A-mains in the modified classes and 10 minute A-mains in all other classes. Several local drivers put on great driving performances while TQ’ing and winning many classes. Jason Ruona, Rob Meyer, Max Fluer, Jon Noon and Zach Mote continually turned the quickest lap times and qualifying runs in the modified classes. Jason Ruona with his JConcepts outfitted Associated B4 and B44 rained supreme in qualifying by TQ’ing 7 out of the 10 rounds of qualifying and winning the first 2 A-mains in both classes. Rob Meyer with his JConcepts outfitted Associated T4 TQ’ed and won the 10 minute A-main event in the modified truck class. Carolina R/C’s own Alex Birmingham won the Stock Truck class while Steve Woody won the Short Course Stock class and Todd Walters won the Short Course Modified class. Brandon Ouellette took his freshly prepared Losi 8ight-e to a well deserved 1st place in the electric 1/8th buggy class.
