Olly Jefferies & Zak Finlay win at BRCA Touring Nats Rd3

Olly Jefferies & Zak Finlay win at BRCA Touring Nats Rd3

The fast open layout of the Halifax track hosted round three of this season’s BRCA Touring Car national series and after three rounds the Modified class has now seen three different winners. This weekend it was Xray’s Olly Jefferies who took the spoils taking TQ and the overall victory in tricky constantly changing weather conditions. Right up to the last final drivers had to be on their toes, two minutes in to the last Modified A-final the rain came and with all drivers on slicks it was one of the slowest finals held at Halifax for a long time, but Jefferies kept it on the tarmac to take the win over the Team Associated of Chris Grainger and Schumacher’s Elliott Harper, with each of these drivers taking a round win so far the series now really opens up with two rounds still to go.

Andreas Edvinsson wins at Swedish EP Off-road Champs

The Swedish Electric Off-road Championship was held this past weekend in Norrkoping. The probably biggest 1/10th scale event of the country only happened for the second time with the race being run on a purpose-build grass track and alongside other sports events in the country. In the 2WD class, Andreas Edvinsson set the early pace and he looked to be unstoppable but Christoffer Svensson would close the gap at the end. The top 3 would then see the two Yokomos of Andreas and “Coffe” in first and second with HB Racing’s Oscar Levin rounding out the top 3.

BRCA 1/8 Electric On-road National Rd5 – Report

BRCA 1/8 Electric On-road National Rd5 – Report

The fifth round of the BRCA National series took place at the Cotswold Model Car Club, returning to this track for the second time this season. Run alongside the Nitro classes, the race would see nice weather and as the 1/8 electric drivers are now figuring out their electronics packages, they’re edging closer and closer to the ultimate pace of the .21 engine nitro cars, all though it is clear to see that the electric cars have huge amounts of torque, the 4S battery limit is making the cars a little slower down the main straight. New comer Alex Thurston was setting the pace and it was looking somewhat ominous for the drivers behind him as he had such a pace advantage. Sunday morning headed into the qualifying which was dry and most drivers managed to get good clean runs in every round. After four rounds of qualifying the Electric A-final would line up as follows:

Jin Sawada takes second Speed King Tour win

Jin Sawada takes second Speed King Tour win

Round five of the 2016 Speed King Tour was held at the Keitune Racing Speedway, host of this year’s JMRCA Japan Electric Touring Nationals. As the race was the unofficial warm-up, many racers used the event to get some laps under their belts for the nationals at the end of July. For this race the Stock class was also run with 13.5T motors over the usual 17.5T machines to allow for better comparability for the open class racers that have to use 13.5T motors at the nationals. During practice, Yokomo driver Yugo Nagashima showed his speed in the Modified class with team mate Jin Sawada being on the same pace as Yugo. After the practice, most drivers also decided to use the Rush 44 hand-out tyre that will be used at the nationals. Overall the qualifier were pretty challenging with changing track conditions, making setup work a tough task. Ultimately Jin Sawada made the best out of the conditions, taking the TQ while Yugo only qualified for the 7 spot on the grid, suffering set-up issues.
