Tessmann TQs opening Truggy qualifier at DNC

Ty Tessmann claimed the first TQ run of the 17th running of the Dirt Nitro Challenge, the multiple champion putting his HB top of the times in the first of the three rounds of Truggy Qualifying at the Fear Farm.  The four time champion, who held a three year reign over truggy at the Phoenix based event from 2012-2014, would finish 4-seconds clear of rivals.  In a close battle wth Ryan Maifield, a last lap error would drop the defending Buggy Champion back to third leaving Ryan Cavalieri to claim a P2.

Hupo Hönigl joins Tekin

Hupo Hönigl joins Tekin

Tekin have announced the signing of European frontrunner, Hupo Hönigl to their team. The 2015 Austrian 1/8th E-Buggy national champion will use Tekin motors and speed controllers to power his Xray 1/8th, 1/10th and 1/12th scale rides in the coming season and he has the following to say about the deal:

I’m really happy to join Team Tekin after already using the Rx8 and T8 for a full season in my 1/8th electric car with amazing feeling and absolutely flawless. Also it is a bit like a revival for me, because in the beginning of my career (22 years ago) I used Tekin speedos and they were great and I have good memories only. I’m really looking forward to a successful year with my new power unit.

JJ Wang announces HPI/HB departure

JJ Wang departs HPI/HB

The recent team driver exodus over at HPI Racing and HB continues with the announcement that JJ Wang is the latest factory team driver to leave. Following the departure of Andy Moore, Freddy Südhoff and also team manager Hiroyuki Kasuya in the past few weeks, JJ parting ways with the Japanese manufacturer leaves just Jilles Groskamp as the sole remaining Factory onroad team member. This is what JJ has to say about his departure:

I would like to inform everyone that I have ended my contract with HPI/HB Inc. The past 6 years has been a life changing experience for me. I would like to give a big thank you to Tatsuro Watanabe, Hiro Kasuya, and Toshihiko Hara for supporting me and believing in me from the start. I also want to give a big thanks to my teammates from all over the world. It was fun meeting everyone and it has taught me that there’s more to a team than just results. I will never forget the laughter we shared and the experiences we’ve been through. It was truly an amazing ride. I am certain that this is a new beginning of my racing career and I am really looking forward to what the future holds for me. I wish HPI/HB the best and I look forward to seeing you all at the track soon!

Freddy Südhoff is back with Awesomatix

Freddy Südhoff is back with Awesomatix

Awesomatix have announced the signing of former HPI/HB driver, Freddy Südhoff to their team. The multiple ETS A-finalist was under contract with the Russian company already from 2012 to the end of 2014 and he will race Awesomatix’ new A800 car at all major European races including the European Championships as well as the World Championships in Beijing. Freddy had this to say about the deal:

I am really happy to announce that I have signed a contract with Awesomeatix. Immediately after testing the new Awesomatix A800 car, I feel very exciting to come back to this team. The fact that we know each other from previous years working together will help us to become even more close. I am looking forward to a great racing time with Awesomatix. Special thanks to Oleg Babich and Max Mächler for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the team.

2015/16 Mibosport Cup Rd4 – Report

Round four of the 2015/16 Mibosport Cup was held this past weekend in Hrotivice, Czech Republic. The race attracted a total of 238 entries that pretty much equally split into the four electric on-road and two off-road classes. The Touring Car Modified category saw Patrick Gollner taking the TQ and the pole position for the finals and in the first A-main, Jiří Vyšín moved up from the fifth to the second place just behind Patrick. Dominic Vogl finished on the third position. Patrick then also managed to take the win in the second A-main while behind him Dominic Vogl finished in second place ahead of Mario Sowka. The third and final A-main again went to Patrick who completed a perfect sweep. Zdenko Kunák and Dominic Vogl finishing second and third respectively. Behind Patrick, Dominic Vogl and Zdenko Kunák completing the podium result in second and third respectively.

David Ronnefalk teams up with Highest

Korean company Highest have announced the signing of Swedish frontrunner David Ronnefalk to their factory team. The former European Champion joins prominent team mates such as Robert Batlle and Reno Savoya and he will use the company’s servo line from now on. It is understood that his first official outing for his new sponsors will be the forthcoming The Dirt Nitro Challenge.

Teemu Leino makes switch to Infinity

Creation Model have officially announced Finnish pro Teemu Leino as one of their Factory Infinity team drivers. The former European ISTC Champion and multiple World finalist in almost all categories, brings with him, his skills, competence and experience which will be a great addition to this new company’s future projects. Teemu, who had up until the end of last season driven for HPI/HB had the following to say:

After my old contract runs to the end I decided to have new venture on my R/C career. Creation Model Ltd has some interesting projects coming up and I feel could help them with my know-how from R/C many ways on and off the tracks. Will race with Infinity cars from now on. I look forward to spend next years with them and develop some great products with them. See you at the race tracks.

Freddy Südhoff leaves HPI/HB

Following the recent announcement of Andy Moore and Hiroyuki Kasuya leaving HPI/HB, another high-class driver has declared his contract termination by mutual consent with the Japanese company. Germany’s Freddy Südhoff joined the team back in December 2014 and his departure will only fuel speculations about the current state of HB mother brand HPI. Freddy states:

I would like to take the opportunity to let you know that I have by mutual consent ended my contract with HPI/ HB inc. Sometimes, things change faster then expected and even it was a short time, I truly enjoyed this and it was great to work with some of the biggest names in RC business together. Thanks to the whole HPI crew around the world. You guys taught me a lot! I wish you all the best for the future.
