John Ermen wins Rd1 Dutch Nationals

Last weekend saw the opening round of the 2007 Dutch Nationals take place at the very fast Rucphen track in the south west of the country. The event played host to the 2 Dutch National 1/8th scale classes, the NK class for the top guys and the Nomac class for slightly slower drivers or newcomers. In the NK class it was local driver and Serpent racer John Ermen that took the win ahead of another local driver and top international, Rick Vrielijnck racing for Mugen in what was a blisteringly quick event, with lap times 7 tenths of a second a lap faster than last year. In third position was Kyosho factory racer, Ilia van Gastel from Belgium, who having not received his Team Orion .21 motors in time ran the qualifying with Picco IDM motors and the main final with a Sirio.

In the Nomac class it was young Miguel Hereijgers that took the class win driving a Serpent 960, with Motonica racer and Red RC sponsor, Michel Nijman from The-Border in 2nd spot while 3rd place went to Mugen racer Arie Mante.

Salven dominates Rd2 of German Region West series

Rd2 of German Region West series

Michael Salven has won the 2nd round of the German West series for 1/8th scale that took place last weekend at the Dormagen track, near Cologne. Driving his Mega ZX21 powered Serpent 960, Michael could easily take the top qualifying spot by half a lap ahead of 2nd placed qualifier Kyosho racer Christian Wurst, as well as setting the fastest lap of the event, and could win the main final by 9 laps ahead of young Kyosho driver Tobias Hepp in 2nd with Mugen racer Andreas Janz in 3rd a further 2 laps back. Christian Wurst was battling with Hepp for 2nd position up until he retired at the 17 minute mark with a servo failure.

Alberto Picco wins Rd1 of Italian Nats

Last weekend saw the first round of the 1/8th scale Italian Nationals held at the Angri track, which stepped in to host the round after the Messina track pulled out a few weeks before the event was due to be run. As it is a World Championship year the Italian Nationals are being run in Worlds format, which means 10 minute qualifiers and 1 hour main finals and when the qualifying was over it was Alberto Picco, driving a Mugen, that took the TQ spot ahead of Serpent racer Massimo Fantini, Danielle Ielasi for Kyosho in 3rd and another Serpent of Andrea Cristiani in 4th.

Fernando Almeida wins Rd2 Portuguese Nats

Last weekend, the second round of the 2007 Portuguese 1/8th scale off road National Championships took place on the Ortigosa track in Leiria. After qualifying it was Crono racer Nuno Casal Ribeiro that took the pole position spot for the main final, but just after the start he got hit by another car, damaging his exhaust badly and loosing him 2 laps in the pits getting it fixed. Getting back onto the track he drove a great recovery drive to bring himself back up to 3rd by the end of the race just behind 2nd place Kyosho driver Miguel Matias with Mugen racer Fernando Almeida taking the overall win.

Mark Green wins Rd1 of 200mm UK Nats

Mark Green wins Rd1 of 200mm UK Nats

Mark Green has won the first round of the 1/10th 200mm Foam National Championships held last weekend at the fast sweeping Tibshelf track. With around 80 drivers present for this opening round Mark Green showed his intentions for this year by going out and winning the race, one lap ahead of Kyosho racer Chris Slater who finished in 2nd position with Steve Brown claiming the 3rd spot also for Kyosho. In 4th spot was 13 year old Serpent SDD driver Kyle Branson who after qualifying 6th, moved up the field during the race to claimed 4th at the chequered flag.

Neil Cragg wins Rd1 BRCA Rally X Nats

World buggy Champion Neil Cragg has won the first round of the 2007 BRCA Rallycross Nationals held last weekend at Sandy track’s in Bedfordshire and our partners Racer Magazine where there to bring us this report: Qualifying was shared between three drivers with Tommy Chung winning the first round with his Sirio powered Kyosho before David Crompton won round two with his new Team Magic M1-B/RB combination. The third and final round was dominated by Neil Cragg with the only Associated RC8 at the meeting as he set a blistering time that marked his card for the half hour final.

Gomez Salmeron wins Rd1 of Spanish Nats

Last weekend saw the 2007 Spanish National Championship ,for 1/8th scale off road, get underway with over 100 racers taking to the track in Lebrija. Richi Gomez claimed the top starting position followed by Borja Hernandez and Antonio Gomez Salmeron in 2nd and 3rd respectively but in the main race it was a quick exit for Axe Rossi racer Richi Gomez, who was out after only 4 laps, which left the front group battle it out for the top spot. Gomez Salmeron who had dropped back to 7th at the start managed to keep a consistently quick pace throughout the race and eventually took the lead from Mugen racer Daniel Vega on the 44th lap of the race and never looked back to take the win for HoBao. Vega managed to bring it home in 2nd position, only 12 seconds back, while Kyosho racer Adrien Perez Mayoral finished 3rd, just over 10 seconds back on Vega.

Yaniv Sivan wins Rd4 of Israeli League

Yaniv Sivan has once again shown that he is the man to beat in the Israeli League as round 4 of the series took place at the Hot Wheels racing club this weekend. The main event was a tough race for round 3 winner Yaniv, with the Kyosho driver having a race long battle with Golan Levy and Idan Kizel which ended when Yaniv was eventually able to take the lead and shortly after Idan had to retire due to an engine problem. This meant that Yaniv could cruise to the win, finishing ahead of 2nd place Xray racer Yosi Steren with Nir Sivan finishing in 3rd with another Kyosho.
