TecnoPower have officially announced that they will enter into the extremely competitive and difficult 1/8th scale on-road market with talented young up and coming Italian driver Andrea Lorenzi, who finished 3rd at last year’s Euro B in Monaco. TecnoPower are proud to have Andrea joining them and helping to promote and race their engines. He will not only participate in the upcoming 2011 Italian National championships but also at the 2011 Worlds in Miami USA.

Youtube user CGF1214 (Chris) posted the above video of Ralph Burch testing the new Xray RX8 1/8th scale at the Ft Myers track in Florida ahead of next week’s Winternats. No details of the new car are shown in the video with the exception of what you can see of the rear end during refueling, but all will be revealed at the cars official release on Wednesday at the Nuremberg toy fair.

Early enough for the new 2011 outdoor season Orcan has launched a new touring car body named A5 Sport. SMI-Motorsport in Germany together with German body maker TRT/SLB and two-time European Champion Dirk Wischnewski have developed this new 200mm body on the basis of the successful A5 200mm. “At the beginning we wanted to change only a few small things”, Bertram Kessler of SMI reported, “but then we brought in more and more cutting-edge ideas which made the new Orcan A5 Sport more sporty, more agile and finally faster.”

Mikie Klausner gets backing from Audi

Reigning and back-to-back Austrian 1:8 Onroad champion Mikie Klausner has announced a deal that sees him officially sponsored by Audi. This week he made final a sponsorship agreement with Audi Austria brand manager Richard Mieling to get support from them for his 2011 racing plans. Mike and all members of the MK-Racing Team are big fans of all kinds of RC sport and real motorsport and so 2 years ago it was decided to run his 1:8 Onroad car branded as the Audi LMP car. His efforts are now netting results, with direct support from Audi for the 2011 season, which thanks to the additional finances, will help him and his team run some international races.

KM H-K1 16T & 23T V2 pulleys & shaft

KM Racing continue to release option parts for the H-K1 car with the announcement of these new 16T and 23T version 2 pulleys. Made from hard coated aluminium, these are strategically machined to be lightweight, feature holes on the side walls to prevent dirt build up and no sport set screws to hold them in place. Also new for the same middle assembly is this lightweight titanium shaft that can accept both the pin and screw type pulleys from KM.

Martin Hudy wins Indoor EC Warmup

Martin Hudy wins Indoor EC Warmup

The warm-up for the upcoming indoor EC was held on January 22/23 in Hrotovice, Czech Republic and Martin Hudy produced this report. The warm-up race was organized together with a club race so along with the expected Modified class, there were also Stock and Hobby classes. The race was attended by drivers from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany. The race started on Saturday with controlled practice and with one round of qualifiers in the evening. There were 3 rounds of qualifiers held on Sunday and 3 rounds of finals. Team Xray was present at the race to help and support all Xray drivers. The team was represented by Martin and Juraj Hudy, Zdenko Kunak, Zdenek Hamak, and David Ehrbar.

Capricorn have announced that their new diff pins feature their new HLD, ‘hard like diamond’, treatment. Instead of the classic hard coating the new treatment doubles the hardness of the pin and also guarantees less friction. This is the same treatment that is applied to the crankshaft of real racing engine.

Xray have released these CNC-machined aluminum shock collars to be used on their touring car shock absorbers to increase durability. Stylish and lightweight they are made from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium and are strategically lightened. Anodised orange, they come in a set of four.
